I'm coming to Austin!

Good Evening Folks!

I just wanted to do a quick introduction in anticipation of my move to Austin in 3 weeks. We've grown tired of CA (for many reasons) and given that we have a 3 year old we feel that CA is just not the right location to raise him. I'm also a musician and there is no better city for live music than Austin.

Anyhow, I've been a part of the E90 post since 2007 when I got my E92. I'm looking forward to being a part of the SW community as I have in CA.

I don't live there, but Austin is one of the great places in the US to live IMO. Its like a Northern Cali vibe mixed with Texas.

Welcome to Austin - have you decided which area here to live in? I'm in Round Rock, just north of Austin and Pflugerville in Williamson County. It has a better tax rate and better school system than Travis County and Austin ISD, but there are other areas outside Austin itself that are also great places to buy a home and school your kids.

Thanks folks. Ya, we are real happy to be getting the hell out of CA. Looking in Cedar Park/Onion Creek/Lake Travis area. Hopefully wont be spending too much time on the roads as both my wife and I will be working from home.

I'll be checking out the meets and stuff as well. Thanks for the invites.

I know there is a bit of a backlash with people moving to Austin, especially folks from CA. I'm pretty sure we won't be bringing the CA mentality with us, thank god.

PS-Call me crazy but I'm actually driving my 335 all the way, just me and my dog while the wife and my boy take the plane. Looking forward to the drive.

Its a nice drive until you hit west texas.. then its about 200 miles of nothing.. but at least its 80mph there...

Ya, I've done that drive a few times. Brutal past Las Cruces NM. BTW, I am using a Valentine 1 radar detector. Anyone know what type of radar your boys might be running on me?

State Troopers use Ka band and laser, as do the police and sheriff depts. in the more populated counties and cities. Some smaller towns and sparsely-populated (funded) counties still run K band.

95% Ka. Very few State, local, or sheriffs use laser in Texas.
