Going to call Franks Window tinting. It's time.

Gotta get the windows done before the sun comes out, besides I feel so exposed in the Coupe, outward visibility is so much better than the RX-8 that I feel like I am on display.

Did some nosing around and from what I can find it sounds like Frank's window Tinting is a good operation over here at the north end.

We'll see how it goes.

Not a clue! But I'll let ya know. It doesn't matter though really, they are really close, carry film I think I want and have a pretty well established operation.

Not much of a web page, but checking around they seem like one of the better shops in the area.

Some people have complained that CA does not work too well w/ tinting and the only reason I would hesitate.

Will do, I am taking the car to the dealership Tuesday to have the I-pod integration installed and have the GPS tweaked, after that I'll be calling Frank's.

I didn't want to provide the dealership with any Bullcrap wiggle room for a faulty GPS in a car with 350 miles on it.

I know that there are problems with Metallized films, butmy understanding with regular or ceramic tints is that they do not interfere with the CA or anything else.

We'll find out.

As for the Dots on the rear glass... I dunno, we shall see but I really have to get my windows done, I feel like I am driving around in my underwear without the windows tinted. Just too exposed.

Well I'm still getting the GPS tweaked and fixed. They installed my ipod integration and are ordering a new Control unit for the GPS. So... Long story short I am waiting for this episode to pass before getting the tint installed as I do not want to provide BMW with any Mickey mouse excuses for a $2100 boat anchor.

SO, Part comes in Monday, then I have to schedule an appointment. So Yeah, soon as ALL OF THIS is done, then I'm Calling franks...

OR Screw it I might just call em' sooner rather than later and just get it done.

Yea, sounds like a good idea. Sure enough they'd blame the tint if you did it first.

OK Well tomorrow I am taking the Car to Franks. It's a small outfit, I met with the owner/installer and another installer. Good folks, knowledgeable, and friendly.

Said he has experience with German cars and some of their oddities.

So we'll see, I have a little bit of a doubt, but they are located just a mile or so from my home so it's damn convenient. Not to mention he really seemed to know what he was talking about, and the work he was doing right then while talking to me was pretty damn nice.

Will be using Johnson window films.

So we'll see.

OK Sorry Folks.... I bailed on my appointment... It was today at 1230 but while Jay seemed really cool I was a little concerned about the tint he was going to use. I want the Ceramic Johnson's and he was really pushing the Silhouette which is a metalized tint but he said there wouldn't be any problems.

Still I dunno. I want someone to pop out of the woodwork, with a demonstrated high level of expertise tinting BMWs. Jay was knowledgable, he knew he'd need to provide extra protection for the rear deck because of the electronics and such but I dunno. The E92 is pretty new, and I just decided NOT to jump into a tint I wasn't 100% sure about.

We'll see... but for now, sorry folks... I pussed out. Jay and Frank's still seems like a good choice, but not until I decide on the film I am comfortable with.

What made you rule out Bellevue Auto Tint?

I called them and they seemed VERY knowledgable about E92s.

Nothing at all really, I was just looking for something closer that was using a premium tint. Mostly I was after Johnson's Tint.

BUT

I may end up over in Bellevue anyway.

Anyone with experience anywhere else local?

Please go to MIDNIGHT AUTO Tint on Aurora! They are always FULL of late model BMW's and Mercedes' when ever I go in there..... and they give you several tint brand options! I've had nothing but great expereinces with these guys but still did not make up my mind about tinting the coupe.

Hey Im in the Army and just recently got stationed here in Ft Lewis right outside Tacoma. I have a Arctic 335i and i was thinking of getting these 20% from this shop around the way. But before i made an appt over there i saw this Light blue colored mercedes almost the same color as mines with what it seemed was a light blue film on his window. It wasnt much of a tint because u can still see his interior but it just matched the car beautifully. Does anyone know where I can get such a tint? Thanks

OK, This is more like what I was looking for, an actual "Go here" kind of recommendation based on prior experience... I'll check 'em out.

That is a Mercedes factory tint! It is not aftermarket.
