Is it worth going to an ALMS race on the first day (Friday in this case)
I am going on a Vancouver to San Diego Cruise this fall and should be in Monterey on the Friday of the ALMS race at Laguna Seca. I looked high and low to find out exactly what goes on on the first day and it looks like its qualifying and some autograph sessions. Has anyone on the forum been to Laguna Seca on the Friday or any other ALMS event on Day 1. I think it will be interesting, but I wanted to confirm that with someone who has actually been there before.

I’ve been to 3 ALMS races and if you have the time, I’d say go! It looks like its only 25 bucks to get in and have access to the Paddock, where you can go to the BMW garage and see them working on the cars. I’ve never been to Laguna Seca, but if it is anything like Road Atlanta you won’t be disappointed.

The times I've been to a race I've camped out at the track for the week. It looks like that Friday there are not any actual races, but for the price its not bad if you've never been. If you go to the track's website it has a schedule up that shows you all the events for that Friday.

No racing on Friday but you will have access to lots of areas closed when racing is occurring. If you never been to Laguna Seca it is worth it for the day. Been there for lots of motorcycle races over thr years and a few vinatage races never a dull moment.

Yes, if you want to see the cars up close and interact with the teams.
