Engine Hesitation @ 70MPH - 2007 E92 330D

I was redirected here from the main forum, so apologies for the repost.

Hi All,

I have searched and can't find the answer.

I've noticed my car has a really strange hesitancy/lurching when at 70MPH in 6th (manual box). The best way to replicate it is as follows

1) Drive at 65MPH
2) Set cruise control
3) Gradually increase cruise control in 1MPH increments
4) At 70MPH there will be a lurch

I've sent it back to the dealer and they said they couldn't replicate the problem. It's pretty annoying as when you're cruising at 70MPH you get the lurching whenever the cruise control has to compensate for a hill. The only way to live with it is to cruise at 65 or 75.

It also does it on manual throttle and in other gears, this is just the easiest way to replicate the behaviour.

Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Does anyone with a 2007 330D fancy trying the above to see if the same happens?

Thank you!

It'll be that wee annoying EGR behavior that I was getting.......

I asked BMW and they told me I was a dick (which is technically true to be fair)

Read as : Yes they noticed it but have no idea nor care of fixing it

EGR Valve - about 1800-1900 revs. Its when the exhaust flow begins getting redirected into the exhaust gas cooler and it happens on mine and others - nothing to worry about. Just drive round it. Its all part of the emissions - cooling the exhaust gas reduces the nox

My 2008 330d auto does this too. Only does it when fully warmed up after about 10 mins of driving at 70mph.
Taking it into dealers in Monday to see what they say as it's really getting on my nerves!!
From the previous posts I've not got much faith in them doing anything about it!

Yeah, that's it. I was worried it was some fuelling/injector/pump issue. Seems to be normal behaviour then. PHEW!

Thanks EVERYONE for your responses

After reading through this epic thread on BMWLand

http://www.bmwland.co.uk/forums/view...?f=36&t=108190

Looks like I can't even remove the EGR. So I'll probably plug it with one of these "semi bypass" bungs
