E92 Seatbelt Extender

Hi Everyone,

Sorry if this has been posted a number of times before.

The drivers seatbelt extender is no longer catching the seatbelt when extending, i have had a look and it looks like there is a broken bit of plastic which stops the hook locking.

Has anyone had this problem in the past?

Also how much is it to replace the arm?

I have a extended warranty with carplan who are pretty good and they might cover it but Sytner Coventry are insisting they run diagnostics at a cost of £92 to identify the problem - i explained that it doesn't need diagnostics, you can see the arm doesn't catch and you can see the broken plastic!!!

I appreciate any advice!

Cheers,

Liam

I had this problem recently, the passenger seatbelt presenter wouldn't catch the belt on the way out. Looking down the length of the arm I could see that it had not been fully clipped back together (the car had just come back from the bodyshop for a new roof). I just clicked it back together with my fingers and all was fine again - 2 seconds work once I'd sussed what was wrong.

If your clip has actually broken then that won't help, but look at it carefully before stumping up at the dealers.

Let me know if you need more info

Yeah they are £216 from stealers, and that's without the motor, just the long plastic arm. My drivers side has a small broken plastic pin on the thin small piece that clips onto the larger arm itself, but only comes as a complete unit. Raging.

The plastic bit inside the arm broke on mine recently too

Best you could do is glue a wedge in until you get it changed. That will mean the end doesn't retract into the holder but at least it makes it work.

I went to BMW today, they identified it is the top hook piece that has gone and that it fixes into the arm.

The cost is £36 ex VAT; it means the hook locking mechanism is fixed without paying for the full rip off arm

If yours is broken in the same place it might be worth trying to see if they will sort it for the same price... ill find the part number and let you know.

part number

Liam 89, could you post the part no of your replacement? My dealer tells me that it is not possible as they replace only the whole arm for 250 EUR ...

Thank you
