Running in tyres

Recently bought and been having some weekend fun with a Z4M Roadster (E46 M3 drive train and suspension, M3 CSL brakes and 245Kg lighter than an M3 Cab.)

Last weekend I got a puncture in a rear tyre. With 5mm tread each side I elected to buy 2 new tyres and fitted the M3 version of the Continental Sport Contact.

The car now lights up its traction control in 3rd on a dry road, so obviously the tyres need time to achieve normal grip levels.

I'd like to avoid going backwards through a hedge or rearranging a dry stone wall, so anyone know how many miles new tyres typically need before they reach optimum grip levels?

As it is a bit warmer, perhaps 200 - 300 miles of dry driving.

I was spinning the rears at 60 mph when i put new tyres on in winter last year. Took ages to get them bedded in.
