Carbon fibre skinning

I've been pointed towards actual carbon fibre skinning as an alternative to the 3m dinoc vinyl which gives a matt finish. The cost isn't much more than the actual 3m stuff but it is much harder to use as it has a few other steps.

Anyway, there's a video on their website on how to do it:

I've ordered one which should be arriving tomorrow and I hopefully will start skinning the interior parts on the weekend.

Carbon Mods Stuff looks great, I looked at this instead of the vinyl wrap, but decided after seeing a few cars done in the flesh I'd try this first. Fancy giving it a go at some point also as how to vid's make it look it pretty easy.

Looks gash, will never match a female moulded finish.
I use CF a bit on RC gliders/airframes and have done a few repairs.
Its a bitch to work with and those interior parts will take you years of work and still not look as good as di-noc.

The video is edited heavily.
The carbon finish after gluing it down to a part is going to be bumpy as hell.
Look how much sanding you will have to do, and then try to laquer it after.

CF with the right epoxy is pretty hard to sand!
Sure it can be done but cannot be worth the investment in time surely?
Especially when carbon mirror covers are only about £100 anyhow.

Not trying to piss on anyones idea, but I use the stuff a little and its VERY labour intensive working without a mold.
