Spark Plug Socket in DFW?
Hey all,
I just ordered plugs for my 3er and only after did I see that ECS is still back ordered on the spark plug socket. I was wondering if anyone local had one they'd be willing to lend me for a couple of days so I could get my new plugs swapped in. I'd really appreciate it! |

nooooope! It took me way too long. I would just pay an indy shop to do it the next time. Getting everything apart isn't tough, it's the damn walnut shells everywhere that's the problem. I'm pretty sure I still have some in my engine bay. If you've got a compressor you can get the parts for ~$50 including the media. It was worth a shot(heh) but I still think it's something best left to the pros. I would recommend that if you take it in to have it done that you request before/after pics. It's relatively easy to get the junk off the intake walls, but to really clean the backs of the valves themselves takes a lot of fiddling and angling of the gun (at least with the setup I was using).
I've still got ~20lbs of shells if anyone wants them. I bought fine shell media. coarse would probably go faster but it wouldn't come out of my hopper/gun setup Cosmos: I've got plenty of deep well sockets that would work for most cars but sure enough, BMW requires a special, thin walled tool. http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/ES1306821/ES1306821/ michael1284, you've got PM. |

^ thanks, as of right now michael1284 is getting me what I need.
Unfortunately I also need someone with a cobb to read some codes for me :/. I'm getting a P0442 pending code and probably some BMW specific code that my OBD2 reader can't get. I've already replaced the gas cap and checked all the evap lines that I can see (under the hood and near the charcoal cannister in the back of the car). I'm running out of ideas at this point. Guess I can try replacing the fuel vapor check valve near the throttle body but I'm hoping a scan with a BT or AP will tell me what I need. |

If someone with a Cobb were to help you, they would have to completely uninstall their tune and install it to yours to read codes I think. Def need a BT tool...

AFAIK you can read codes w/o being married to the car. I had another member on here read codes for me at one point with an AP (that was married to his car) and it seemed to work great.

Also, Cobb AP only reads certain codes right now, not all codes. I think it's engine codes only? Can't remember.
