Not exactly sure, my supervisor and I was at the dealership few weeks ago for an appraisal, and we spoke about the 528xdrive, and he said yeah after September but he's not the most reliable person to get information from. Our ordering process starts in a few weeks, and if the 528ix isnt available, I guess we would get another 535i, or an 535ix if it can be squeezed into the budget. But I wouldn't be surprised if they force me into a 528 non xdrive, given the budget cuts everywhere.

I'm sure we would trade in the two 750iL's because its hard to find to find a buyer who will buy it outright without leasing or financing from the dealer. Last edited by v8rumble; 05-25-2011 at 10:14 AM.. |

Sounds like a great deal. I'd be all over one of those if I didn't already have the 535.
26K trade-in is criminal. Surely you could take the car almost anywhere else and get 40K rather easily. Heck, put it on Autotrader or even eBay and I'd bet they'd sell in a week.

No catch, you wont be dealing with a random stranger in a McDonalds parking lot lol. This is a government registered vehicle, you would be at our office in Manhattan. Vehicle is owned by the German govt. My department buys 3 brand new BMWs every year with the diplomatic discount, and trade them in for next model year, most of the time we get back what we paid for it.
You wont be able to lease the car obviously, but if you arrange finance options with your bank, then I guess that shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise cash or certified check. |

No limitations as the vehicle was never registered in Germany, and is US spec. It was imported from Germany as a new BMW, and once it arrived here, it was registered to Dept of State, as they issue the diplomatic plates. You can ship it anywhere you like as a regular vehicle.

Does it feature anything in addition to standard equipment? Packages? Individual options? Also,I can easily get to Manhattan to look at it.Would that be possible? If it is,would it also be possible to take it for a quick spin (with proper ID and a Consulate "escort",of course)?

I think it's safe to assume that Germany's diplomatic mission in NYC (UN and Consulate) is a pretty large, complex and well run operation. If I'm correct to assume this it does seem a bit strange to me that that mission would turn to an enthusiasts' website to try to get rid of a diplomatic vehicle. It could very well be legit but *I'd* only expect to see something like this done by Venezuela's...or Cuba's....or Bangladesh's Consulate.

No other options that I cound think of except sun shades and no "535i" badging on the back. So theres navi, heated seats, sunshades, parking sensors, sunroof. I'll keep you guys posted in the meantime. So first week of November is the sale, and whoever has the funds available gets it basically. When the date comes closer, interested people are welcome to come by at check it out, take it for a spin, etc etc. edit: I'll also post up the 750li's around October, if anyones interested in them for somewhere in the 70s. |

Hi,
Are there any further updates to the information you posted before? Is the sale still slated for November or any sooner? I'd be interested in buying the car. How did the 535i handle this past winter in the NYC area? Thanks. |

The 535i didn't come out during the winter, maybe once or twice. Stays in a parking garage 90% of the time. |

UPDATE:
I'm waiting on the bill of lading for the new car so I cant exactly give a date when the car is "officially" for sale, but it should be any day now. Retail value is $50k, it will be a "closed" bidding process. Bidding starts at $40k, best offer wins obviously. Cash or certified bank check only. Please have the funds available if you're interested. Car can be seen in NYC with an appointment. Send me a private message if you want to set up an appointment Car has approx 6,300 miles. I drove to the Canadian border and back to NYC, about 800ish miles last week. Real fun to drive |
