Long road trip

hey fellas,

just picked up my 335i from a dealer up in jersey, i live in TN. i'll be driving my car back and was wondering if any of you had any experience using 3m blue tape as a temporary clear bra. how did it hold up, any residue left over, etc, etc.

thanks

moisture tends to fuk it up, i bought the oem bra when i did my road trip from ca to wi - well worth it imo. you wouldn't believe the crap that was on the bra - if your gonna tape make sure you get the side mirrors too

I did this last September on my 2,000 mile road trip from Salt Lake City to New Orleans.

It holds up pretty well. Lost a couple pieces but not a single rock chip. Pulls off real easy when youre ready to take it off. I had a tiny bit of residue on the side but it washed right off.

Not too bad after 8 sates and only one roll of tape

Works great and leaves no residue as long as you don't leave it on more than two weeks.

That said, make sure that you start at the middle of the hood and work towards the front. That way wind turbulence won't lift up the tape.

Also do the top of the windshield and a few strips in the roof. While you're at it, put some on the mirrors and behind the wheel openings.

Do not buy one of those "leather" bras - they will ruin your paint on a trip.

off topic but sara please tell me your avatar is a pic of you... lol.

op for what its worth I have never put a bra on my e92 but I have had them on other cars and I don't recall any paint damage.

The tape is great idea but you will probably get a few people laughing at you. And yeah get the mirrors.

That blue tape has been used on hundreds of thousands of vehicle that do long road trips, its easy to apply and easy to take off. yes its blue, but all in the love of keeping away bugs, rock chips, and tar.
