That is not a PS. BMW fooled around with a folding hardtop on the test mules on some of the cabrios in the E46 series. They then decided to go for canvas roof, and wait with the folding hardtop solution for the next generation. I know there is more pics of the E46 cabrio with a folding hardtop.

I've been a BMW enthusiast since I was 8...I'm 22 now and while the '06 3 sedan took some getting used to, I fell in love with the E-92 right away. I love all BMW designs dating all the way back to early post-WWII vehicles...however now that the E90 and E92 have been around for awhile...when I look back at the e46, it somehow looks dated to me. I still love those lines, and powerplant, especially the S52 engine in the M3, but I love the new coupes, and it honestly is a better looking car IMO.

Itīs not PS and this roof doesnīt came from BMW!
The folding roof is from EDSCHA...an german producer of cabrio roof systems. It was shown on the IAA (2003?) as an demonstration of what is posible in the future of cabrio roofs. greets Uli |
