Had her a little sideways coming out of a junction today...

Mine are showing 7mm but apparently that's what the 265/30/19s are.

The fronts which are 235/35/19s are showing 8mm which is also apparently right. I was curious about the discrepancy between the two...

Well, I was afraid that the car would leave me stranded but thankfully the seatbelt was working ok so I managed to limp her home.

Not bad at all.

However, I need to drive on them "in anger" so to speak. Get out on some fast A-B roads and see how they feel once fully warmed up etc.

For regular urban and motorway driving I think they're great. The ride is infinitely more compliant and the grip levels are more than acceptable.

The M25 Clockwise - M11 Southbound is a good junction with a sweeping right/left bend which tightens considerably. There are advisory/warning 30mph signs on the lead-up which I've always viewed as a bit of a "challenge" and I used to be able to comfortably get round at about 60mph on the OEM Bridgestones.

However, on the Falkens I have found that the car seems to suffer more "roll" through these sorts of high-speed manoeuvres which has led me to reduce the speed I carry through that junction.

I am attributing this perceived roll to the increased flex in the side-wall of the tyres.

Other than that, I think the tyres offer reasonable performance for the money.

Just keep pushing and maybe up the pressure 3psi and retest?

The flinstones are so hard and crap you cannot detect the breakaway point-they have no emotion at all.

With the Falkens you can really feel better what is going on below you.
And you can feel the slip angles being generated, and the point of a slide.

I guarantee you it is FAR higher than you imagine you just need to get used to the new feel.
Don't forget the DSC will not let anything bad happen - you either understeer (obvious) or four wheel drift a bit and the throttle gets pulled so go for it
Just dont lift off sharply, wind back gently at the point of understeer or DSC intervention.

It's about 7mm. I run this exact size and replaced mine a week ago.

That's good to know.

m1bjr,

I'm already running 3.15/2.75 Bar rear/front respectively. Not sure I can put any more in on the rear. I might up the fronts a little though...

Think I'd be inclined to let them down, a lot!

What's the load index front and rear of your Falkens? 92Y/94Y - XL also?

For example, compare the suggested pressures for a Conti Sport Contact3 in your sizes with what you are running.

http://conti-luftdruck.de/index.php?gelesen=1#result

Conti say 2.3bar front 2.4bar rear for their product....Cant imagine other Brands being so massively different to this?

Interesting Non?

YvesD,

The tyres are 93Y/91Y rear/front and both are XL.

Why would the pressures need to be so low?

I started off lower and the car felt terrible. The max stated on the side-wall is 50psi which is 3.44Bar

Edit:

There are conflicting opinions over in this thread http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=504148

I find the higher pressures gives the car better feel while the ride remains compliant.

I think the observation is that they dont need to be so high.

Someone else said it spot on that the Flintstones are so steely edged by comparison you dont get any warning they are going to let go, they just let go.

Going back to conventional tyres takes some adjustment, I felt exactly the same as you do about 'slop' in the sidewall when making the switch.

Dont notice it anymore.

I run at 36 rear 33 front on FK452 in 19" 235/35 front 265/30 rear.

Handling is good. Give it a go

Probably 3 years of driving on bridgestone run flats.

I was the same when i put my winters on. It felt like i was on the magic carpet ride and cornering really showed up the compression of the sidewall.

It perhaps isn't a bad thing, just need to get used to it.

It will be me next, i might change out of rft's this year ever though i have plenty of life in the rears.

To me 33 psi for a 19" Falken on the front seems very low, particularly for the heavier 6-pot models. I run 35psi on a 17" front wheel, and typically we increase pressure for lower profiles.
