Buy a cheaper car (both in price and maintenance), especially if you will be attending college.

My advice op, the bmw BY FAR. I could see if you were talking about a v8 well optioned stang, but if you are talking a 6 cylinder stripped stang vs a black 335i there is no comparison in my head. I love Ford and Mustangs, but after having gotten my first bmw about a month ago I am going to find it hard to drive any other family of cars until I can afford something REAL nice. These cars are incredible, and the one you are looking at is way faster than mine. |

Save your money and invest it. Then you can buy a bad ass new ride when you get out of college.
Buy a cheap ride with warranty. Trust me whe your 25 an you have 50k in the bank you will be happy with your savings.

not one of theses again. Eric I totally understand that you want to have an awesome car when you hit 16..shit I think we all did. Do you really think you need a 335 though? The insurance for you is gonna be killer. If this is going to be your first car I suggest a beater. we know you will be trying to race your friends. There's no denying it we all did at 16. You sure you dnt want to get a Honda or something like that? The S2000 is pretty awesome. Even the Civic Si can be had and tuned well. I mean im niot old by ny mean (26) but I definitely think you should rethink your options. Although if it was me back then I would go for a 03 Cobra ...........anyways good luck with your purchase.

A 16-year-old needs a BMW 335 like he needs a craniotomy...regardless of financial abilities, no 16-year-old should be driving a car with that much performance - particularly with the cost of insurance. Do yourself (and your parents) a favor, Eric - if you really, really want a BMW, get an older 3-series, but I'd highly recommend something a lot less costly to operate and insure. A VW turbo beetle comes to mind, or a Civic SI, or even a Scion Tc. When you're 21 and out of college (hopefully), then you'll be in a better position for an expensive performance car. It's not just the price of the car, it's the total cost of ownership, and that embodies a lot more than you can imagine right now.

I'd recommend something that'll be harder to get yourself in trouble with. You may be really smart and responsible, but everyone has a learning curve when it comes to driving. Certain things will only come through experience. So I'd recommend something that's either FWD or AWD and if you're gonna go RWD, get something that's low on HP.
Also, if reliability is a consideration, it is best to stay away from the N54/N55. It's statistically one of the worst cars sold in that regard. |

I got my 335 when I was 16, and looking back on it, I wish I had a cheap car like a Nissan 240sx or similar to learn how to better drive defensively. My parents always told me that they weren't worried about how I drive, but about how the other idiots on the road drive. This turned out to be 110% true. I wish I had a cheap car that I could park anywhere and not worry about it at all. The worst is going to a party where there is no parking and you have to park in the absolute worst spot ever. Do yourself a favor and get a cheap but decent car like a 240sx. They're small, cheap cars that you can definitely have some fun with.
