Bad Radio (AM) Reception

Does anyone here have bad AM reception on their F10? I know it's not just a matter of bad spot because I drive my wife's car sometimes and I get clear reception. Any suggestion? FM band sounds ok, clear reception.

Are you tinted? If so, what kind?

My dad had an E39 and he tinted with metallic film. AM reception was all but gone.

Is the AM antenna on the back window and therefore effected by the tinting versus the other antenna (sat, FM, cell) part of the fin on the roof?

I have asked this question before and not gotten an answer. Sounds as if to be safe, i will need to get carbon tint.

Had similar problem on my car....Static on AM stations became unbearable. Apparently, there is a service bulletin out for this problem on the new 5 series. The problem stems from the antenna lead wire coming into contact with the metal of the roof where it connects to the radio antenna amplifier - located under the roof headliner near the rear window (antenna is in the rear window). BMW now is suggesting that dealers wrap the lead in cloth tape to prevent such interference. Doing so solved the problem in my car.

Hope that this helps.
