E90 320i 2008 Thoughts?

Hey guys,

First time poster, been lurking for a while.. Sorry if this has been covered a million times, but...

I am buying a 2008 E90 320i it features the M Sport Package and Innovations Package so I'm pretty excited about all those features (coming from an e46 318i) it has done 72,000 Kilometers (45,000 Miles)

I guess my question is, what are your experiences with the 4 Cylinder engine in the e90's and the car in general?

The engine in my e46 is remarkably reliable so if the e90 engine is anything like the e46 I'll be stoked!

Also is there anything in general I should be aware of in the car? I'd like to be aware of anything that may just "pop up" I live in Aus so servicing at BMW is considerably more than it should be =)

Thanks in advance you guise

Hey , i've got the same car 320i 2008 with idrive , its fine , quite engine , amazing 6-speed auto gearbox ( best auto i ever experienced) , concerning the engine i've faced only one problem which was a faulty valvetonic motor ( electric motor controling the air intake to the engine) , but i can't say it's a common problem in this engine type , but it makes the reliability of the engine a little lower than the e46 one

Thanks, Ahmed. How much did that repair cost you if you don't mind me asking?

I really look forward to it, it is (on paper) considerably quicker than an e46 318i so I hope I can sense the difference ..

I think the 320 in the E46 was a 6 cylinder and now in the E90 is a 4 cylinder...you really do need to push the 4 alot to get it moving. overall a good solid engine, i never had any problems when I owned one..

a lot of members here state 328i as sluggish and 320i is something that not gonna move...and thats my thought. A heavy body with 4 cylinder engine, you gotta push it a lot
