Electric Folding Mirror issue HELP??

When I unlock the car the driver mirror tries to fold up, problem is that the mirrors are already up so the motors for the mirror activate and the wing mirror clicks and makes a loud noise as if it is going to break. It also happens when I lock the car. I dont think the mirror motors can take much more. please help!!!
