320d power slowly getting further away?

Ahui.

So my 320d (2006 pre-Ed. 70k miles or so.) used to really kick in at about 1800, or so I remember it.

Then it was 2000, and now it seems more like 2300 revs...

Once it comes in you still get an almighty kick and I'm certain the Turbo is performing as well as it ever has.. But I've lost the progression of power and I run out of usable puff quicker so it's definitely slower from 0-100 etc.

Do you think there are any common problems that could explain this? My view is to get the MAF sensor and air filter changed. I think this will likely solve everything. But you are talking about 150 for the sensor, 50-100 for the filter and most painfully about 4h labour total due to the bastard position of the AF on the 320d. Therefore, any other suggestions before I swallow deep and take the pain?

PS I'll be going to birds or similar unless you think there might be a warranty issue worth investigating in which case I'll deal with Synter sunningdale due to the Anneka connection for if (when. It's always when with me. ) there are any issues

Cheers pups.

Dave

Try BP Ultimate for a few tanks ... 5 times the cleaner of normal Diesel apparently .... or V Power Diesel (same I guess). May be a cheap cure ... but I am only guessing.

Glad this has been brought up actually, I noticed mine during the week wasnt to good.

It is as if the power is being held back, feels as if it has alot more to offer if that makes sense?
Does this sounds like the MAF?

Anyone know rough cost for maf sensor change all in? And do you think I have any scope to push this as a warranty claim?

LOL! I'm only keeping the car for the summer. About another 7-8 months and I'll have enough positive equity in her for a nice little deposit on the next one

I'm torn between a twin turbo straight six and something in a V configuration, put i that way. But in the mean time I want to get the soot chucker running right again

You could try cleaning the MAF with MAF cleaner although general consensus is that once it starts playing up then replacement is the only real cure. The airfilter is harder to get to than most cars but it is not as bad as most make out and is no way a 4 hour job.

I have done both jobs which I posted on my thread here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=490260
