So I'm out for a Sunday drive on a one lane road, with decent traffic in each direction. I'm going a shade over 85 in an 80 zone (kph, not mph). There's a riced-out Acura RSX behind me so close I could smell his breath. I mean, this guy was tailgating like I've never seen. He was making me really nervous, especially since I had my 1 year old daughter in the back.

So, we get to a part of the road with a broken line for passing, but traffic's coming the other way. RSX jumps out anyway, and I have to slow way down way quick to give him enough room to get back into our lane before being smoked in a head-on. Made my blood boil, but didn't want to stoop to his level by catching up and doing the same, especially with said daughter in the back.

Anyway, 5 minutes later, guess who I pass pulled over on the side of the road by the RCMP? Isn't karma wonderful?

Everything happens for a reason.

My friend was driving her Mini(shes decently aggressive) and was being tailgated by some guy. It was a one lane road(one going either way) so she pulled over onto the shoulder to let him go by cus she wasnt in the mood to fight back. They end up at a red light and hes in front, shes right behind. Light turns green and he guns it...gets nailed by an SUV running the light. His car is demolished and they have to get the helicopter in. She however has to stay at the scene as a witness. The next few days shes all shaken because she says it could have(should have) been her. But it wasnt meant to be.

Sometimes you have to go with your gut if it says "Just let it go".

Yeah, street racing is stupid. We all have done it, the sooner you realize it's stupid the better off you are.

i would have stopped and told the officer EXACTLY what happened, i have sympathy for people who get speeding tickets, but not for people who do stupid ass shit like this and endanger other peoples lives

Unfortunately, it takes a bad accident or a death(yours or your friends) to make this stark realization.

Wow. I salute your patience. I hate the drivers in Halifax they drive me crazy. I don't think I could have acted as mature as you.

Well done fellow, well done.

I do believe in Karma but listen to this story...
Once I was stuck behind a slow moving car in a two lane road and passed him on the right as we came up to a traffic circle because I knew they were going to take forever to pull into the circle with the amount of traffic there was that day. So after I dropped it into 2nd and whipped past him I came to a stop (now in front of him) and proceeded to wait for about 20 seconds or so looking for an opening to sneak in. While I was sitting there with him behind me, BAM!!! he got re-ended by a Pathfinder that wasn't looking were they were going. Luckily he had his brakes on and only moved forward about 6 feet or so and didn't hit my bumper. Crazyness. That would have been me if I wasn't so impatient.

the pathfinder turned out to be a ceo of a multi billion dollar corporation and the slow guy you passed sewed him for 10 million$ and won

karma corrected

The road out to prospect / Peggy's cove...I want to say it's called the Prospect road, but I'm not 100% sure. It's the one that goes out past Exhibition Park.

Unfortunately, I don't know if I would have been equally patient without Mia (my daughter) in the back. I'm lucky she was there, which made me more conservative, otherwise who knows what would have happened. More karma I guess, it all worked out.

Mia's almost 13 months and has made me a completely different driver when she's in the car. That begs the question though, why should having her there make me drive any differently? In theory, I should be as conservative without her as with her. She needs a daddy, and there are other little babies like her in other cars all over the road.

It's sad, but I do drive more aggressively without her there. I'd like to think I'm still driving safely, relatively speaking, but it's definitely different.

Well I changed my driving habits over the years. I guess it is called maturity. When I became a father, it was a catalyst to further my metamorphosis into a grown up man.

Anyone every sucker folks into a ticket? I've gotten a few, sit at the red light revving your motor like you're really going to go for it, get all anxious start creeping... Knowing full well there is a trooper just up ahead?

I got one kid really bad one Night on my bike, acted like I was really going to go for it I was in the inside lane and could see the nose of the Cop sitting there waiting. Poor guy next to me could see him. I reved it real high and looked like I was going to rip it... Light turned green I jumped about 6' out then pulled in the clutch and coasted... Poor guy went by the cop at prolly 60 or so with his front wheel in the air about 12 inches... He he he....

I'm a dick...

Never did it intentionally, but one time I was driving somewhat spiritedly and approached a red light. Another guy weaved a bit to get to the light behind me. Light turned green and I left, noticed this guy left a little quickly too. I wasn't in the mood to race so I pulled into the right lane (3 lane roadway) and did about 10km/h over the limit.

Cops like to hang out on this stretch of road, just over a kilometer from the light. If you're looking you can see them standing at the side of the road with a radar tripod. I noticed this, other guy obviously did not as he zoomed by me . The cop calmly walked out into the road, waved him over, and I went on my way.
