speaker wires
hey guys,
as we all know the speakers in the standard e90 are s**t. so i was thinking about installing a subwoofer and some 6.5 inchers under the seats. i have a re q but need to install it by tapping in to the factory speaker cables. like this guy has done http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=404485 but as i have a simple 320d se (no optional extras) no navi, will i have all the cables in the boot or am i required to pull out the HU? can i buy a iso cable (i think thats what its called) that will extend the factory one to the cd player so i can cut wires of the extended bit rather than the factory part ( hu> >(extended iso, splice in to this one)>(standard iso)) is this possable? and what is the best way to tapp in to a wire? thanks in advance for your help guys |

Best way to split into a cable is to bare back some insulation, solder the new one in and cover with heat shrink. Don't be tempted to use the piggy back type connectors, they are generally rubbish. With a heat shtink connection you wouldn't really need to be doing this on a new loom as you can easily cut the cables and seal up or open the heat shrink to remove the new soldered connection.
Would imagine you need to go in behind the head unit to do all this but that shouldn't be a big problem to get it removed. |

There's loads of guides on here. I used them to find the speaker wire joiners under the front seats to tap into and run to the boot. I now run 2 stereo amps, one for the front speakes and one for the subs. It now sounds a million times better.
