Quick question on towbar fitting
Hi,
I am currently fitting my Witter towbar, all going ok except on the bumper part that you remove, it has a piece that the exhaust hangs off and the towbar doesn't. Is the exhaust ok? or am i missing something Thanks Matt |

Although it says nothing about this on the Witter site or in the instructions, on the Westfalia site, their bars need an additional exhaust bracket if you have a 335i or 335d (it also states turbocharged on the site too, so it may mean all diesels)

Check out my towbar thread Matt http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=266844 no-one seems to have had trouble with the bracket.

Dave, I used your post as inspiration (Your towbar is the same as mine). Everything went fine except the bracket for the exhaust, I know there was nothing missing as the instructions didn't mention it. I may get someone from work to knock me a bracket up.

I've just been out and crawled underneath mine, the factory bracket is still there; are you sure you aren't missing something here?? There is just too much bumper in the way for me to see it fully, like.

Hi Dave, Thanks for having a look. On the bumper bar that I removed had a welded bracket that held the exhaust rubber.
I've looked on Westfalia site and they show a the carrier that the rubber would fit on. I may give the place I got it from a call tomorrow to see what they say Matt |

Fitted a westfalia detachable on my e92 335d.
All went well until we got to the exhaust. The westfalia towbar had a support on the left hand side (prob for a single exhaust) where I was expecting 2 inner ones. I should have got 2 brackets but didnt realise at the time of order. Anyway, not to worry, we made 2 "C" shaped brackets out of stainless threaded bar & job was a goodun as the threaded bar was conected with a couple of nuts to to towbar. May be the same for you (buy a bracket from BMW) but I didn't want to give the stealers any money & just wanted it back together asap. More than happy with the way it worked out in the end. |

Sorry to resurrect this thread but does the Westfalia towbar have a provision with connecting safety chains? |

To the peeps will "missing" exhaust brackets - you DID refit the bumper bar over the towing bracket, didn't you?
I must admit I've not done a dual exhaust one, but on the 320d, the exhaust hanger is on the bumper bar, so I would've thought the twin zorst ones just had a bracket on the other side as well?
