Squeaking brakes

Just some things that is worrying me...

When i reverse and apply braking i can hear a squeaking sound..isit worth to take to the dealers to look at? will they charge me? my brakes say 19000 rears and front 50000 miles..on idrive is this too much??

other problem is say i drive the car for a long time..normal driving then i leave the car on for ten minutes waiting for my frd i can hear from the engine something spinning with a chunk chunk chunk sound..this only happened once.. =[

any idea's...apart that everything is fine, engine starts as soon the start button is pressed so i dun think its a HPFP..

Could be the brake sensor. I had the same problem the 335d and it was replaced under warranty.

oh maybe i should take it to bmw dealer too then , but are the figures right even for when new pads are fitted? surely its not supppose to be that high millage for the brake to be changed?

I had my 335d for 40k miles and never changed the brakes. One was getting close to being required, the other was still a way off (can't remember which way around they were). I've now done nearly 20k miles in the M3 and both sets of brakes are still indicating 10k+ miles left.

Yep, they'll rape you for a couple of hundred for cleaning and lubricating your brakes.

I've reported this problem several times, and the same answer come back, as Dave says, they'll charge you the earth for cleaning brake dust build up off the discs etc. Not worth it really, but makes a mockery of an expensive car when at 5mph in reverse it sounds like a 20 year old Ford Sierra.

I gave up asking them and decided to follow their recommendation to give the brakes a good clean and a generous amount of anti-squeal paste on the brake pad carriers. This has done the trick for me and I have not had the low speed squeal for quite a while. It seems to last a year or so before they need another clean and there is some satisfaction in doing the job yourself.

Thanks for the tip,i will look into that but in the mean time need to get the claim right as someone reverse into my front bumper yesterday =[
