Folding Mirrors

Hi Folks,

I recently bought a 07 335D and have factory fitted folding wing mirrors which fold/unfold using a button.

I want to know weather it's possible to program this to fold when locking or holding the lock button down on the remote?

I have inquired this at several dealers and have been told all sorts of tales, from it costing £65 to not being able to do this as BMW have removed this and various other prices ranging up to @ £225

Have any one done this? and advise if its actually possible or am i wasting my time.

Thanks

I don't think there is a way to do it via the key as default, your only option would be to try and get the remote coded by BMW to do it. Not sure they would do this though??

There is something you can buy from EAS in america called remoteKey, I think that can do it and a lot more. Not sure but you might want to check it out, here is their link.

It can be done.

There are guys who can code all sorts of interesting things directly without using the remotekey solution.

Read a couple of threads on the US section of this board in December so try a search on 'Coding'?

Whilst we are on the subject - are folding mirrors a cost option or standard on 330/335 M Sports? I've seen a few with them advertised yet my 2008 brochure makes no mention of them as either standard or an option.

I believe they're an option. There are two variations IIRC:

1. Electrically folding

2. Electrically folding & auto-dimming

Mine lack the dimming function and if I were looking for a new car I would put dimming on the "must have" list.

My sister has an 05 320d SE (E90) and when she locks the car, you simply hold the lock button for a split second longer and her mirrors fold in.

normal click for opening and they fold automatically.

I think it used to be a standard thing but then (for some unknown reason) they stopped doing it.

However, I believe it can be done if you have access to someone who knows how to code these cars. I wonder if it can be done with a BT cable??

err don't the roof/windows already work from the fob?

i.e. unlock & hold down...

all windows go down and roof retracts??

On my 2006 330i holding the lock button down on the remote folds the mirrors.

I'm certain this can be achieved with a coding change. Some chap on e90post was offering remote coding services too (he sends you lead, you install a bunch of software on your laptop and give him remote access and he does it all while you watch).
