help picking tires
right now have my winter setup on but i know once i put my other rims on i will have to get a new set of tires. Right now i have toyo t1r's which they are a good tire but they only lasted about 19k which isn't too bad but at 1000 for a new set seems a little much getting a new set of tires almost every year (avg 15k-16k a year) so my choice are from discount tire seems like the best price tires for install included. willing to spend $1000 but only if i have too. I want a good gripping tire cause i do go to the strip about 4 times a year so when i go would like to be able to not have traction issues. other then that i usually just use my car to drive to work and cruise but i do like to get on it also. If you guys know of another tire let me know
choices are 1: nitto NT555 2:Falken Fk 452 3: yoko S drives 4: BF goodrich G-Force T/A kdw NT 5: Toyo T1R(would buy from les schwab) |

nitto invos are great. Very quiet and the handling in the rain and dry pavement is unbelievable.

I'm not familiar with #1,#2 nor#5. #4 is good but loud. #3, the S drive is a very good all around tire for the price.

looked at the nitto invos but the thread wear rating on them was only 260. Toyo T1R's are 280 how many miles you get out of your invo's? I want something that will last about 30k but still a tire that will get good grip for going to the track

You wanted 30000 miles out of your tires but you purchased a drag radial? Good luck with that!

My favorite tire for overall price to performance is the Continental DW's.
I watched a C63 run consistent 1.7-1.8 60ft and 12.1-12.2 quarter miles on them. |

+2 for the Nitto Invo's. The Corvette guys swear by them, and if it can handle 500ft/lbs of torque at 1200rpm, it can handle a modded N54 (in the right sizes, of course).
No street tire is going to give ultimate grip, and no super sticky tire is going to last 30,000 miles. The best thing about the Invos is that they have the best compromise - great in the dry AND wet, are super quiet, and ride nicely. The bad part is that they aren't as cheap as some of the other brands out there. For some 19's in 235/275 or thereabouts you'll definitely be between $900-$1000. FWIW, I had some Toyo T1S's on my LS1 powered car and they were liquified with 1/3 throttle input. Great in the wet, terrible torque holding. I switched to some Yokohama Advan Sports and they are slightly quieter, and slightly grippier in the dry, but still not as good as the Invos (however they were $200 cheaper) |

If you want the best tires out there(and there not much more than the ones you listed) then get the bridgestone potenza re-11. They grip like theres no tomorrow, my buddy has them on his 335i and the grip is insane...I cant wait for my runflats to wear out so that I can get these.
