How's teh quality of VMR Wheels? VB3 Hyperblack

I'm close to thinking about getting new wheels and tires but the thing holding me back from aftermarket wheels is my paranoia with the quality. I'm a pretty cautious driver and my area doesn't have too many potholes. I'm just worried about the finish cracking or peeling.

Also, did VMR discontinue production of non-staggered wheels?

It's a solid wheel for the price, we've had a lot of success with the brand.

They did not discontinue non-staggered, you just purchase 4x8.5 wide wheels

I've had them for almost a year now. No issues even with Atlanta potholes and low-profile tires. The paint has not chipped or anything either.

Im not sure why people go for VMR when Avant Gardes are stronger, identical, and the same price.

Because AG needs to come up with some more styles, finishes, and sizes.

i'm undecided now on hyperblack or gunmetal. i searched a bunch of threads and someone mentioned in certain lighting conditions, hyperblack looks like chrome and i despise the look of chrome. the gunmetal looks too matte as well. i'll drop by EAS's showroom when i'm ready to buy to check them out.

Check out the ALUFELGEN CS7 (CSL) in Hyperblack. Best bang for your buck.

Our Hyper Black is quite a dynamic finish and you are correct. Depending on what lighting you are in, the finish may look almost black or very very highly reflective. During direct sun light the finish will look almost like chrome with a tint of black. During the evening, the finish will seem darker and give more a a smoked type of finish.

Hyper Black VB3's in our studio.

Had VMR wheels for 3 years. They're great for the money.

Certainly weaker than stock, but the VMR finish is durable, and they look great.

I've had to replace 2 due to potholes and resulting carnage, but they've taken some pretty good licks and stayed round (aside from those 2 of course.)

Hey guys, well the hyperblack finish is interesting to say the least....in some light it appears as chrome, and its semi-ghetto looking....didnt like that at all. After one winter in NJ the finish was chipping near the edges and the "chrome" effect was fading. Then one day I used Maguire's Hot Chrome wheels cleaner on them and it destroyed the finish on all 4 wheels....crazy spots and drip effect that was etched into the wheel. I faught with Maguires about it and they didnt help...I got the wheels color matched to my space grey and now they are 10000% better....dont do the hyper black at all. The wheels are strong, no bends or anything like that after a couple years.
