Anybody knows what this symbol means? it shows up in the CBS Service menu as a maintenance item...my owner's manual doesn't have this symbol, and the 11/2021 date in the symbol would be exactly 15 years after my build date...if you have it, what is the default service interval in Km/time?

The "paragraph" sign indicates that it is a state mandated inspection reminder (emissions or safety)

Do you have any inspections coming up? If not you can just reset it.

This is not exactly correct. Outside of a state emissions test and safety inspection requirements, BMW has an emissions test at some point during the life of the vehicle as a general inspection of the emissions system (for those locations where there is no annual emissions testing requirement). So, it is not tied to a State emissions test. The CBS only has a notification reminder for annual State safety check (not all States have an annual safety inspection; e.g. Maryland doesn't) and not all counties in a State have annual emissions inspections (my county in Virginia does not). My CBS shows this emissions inspection far out in the future in 2014 some time. The saftey inspection that ceb is referencing is a different inspection notification reminder. It's in the owner's manual under the symbols section.

It's really probably for BMW to have a reason to bring your car in later in it's life so they can sell you $3,000 of new catalytic converters.
