BMWNA -- Goodwill fortune
So here's the situation, my E90 has suffered a number of repairs (3 x HPFP, VANOS, solenoid, vacuum/wastegate, camshaft, outer ledge...list goes on..). NOTE: E90 has 62K miles, and no extended warranty.
Well, it started misfiring last week on me. Got Roadside Asst to tow it to the dealership. Last Saturday, got the call the vehicle was ready (was some 'faulty sparkplug'...they tried to just replace one and reprogram). After checkout, I go take it for a spin...barely got 1/4 mile, and the SES pops up on me. Loop back around the freeway and they had the shop foreman take a look. SES resetted itself, but popped right back on once we got back on the feeder. Days later, SA calls me to say I have leaking fuel injectors. Priced me $1600 to replace them all. At this point, I was lost for words. So I quickly did some research, and came across the recall campaign issued for the majority of us. I called BMWNA Customer Relations line to review my service history and requested I get some assistance for the trouble. Mentioned to them that there's an associated TSB to the campaign. Sucky part was that I have a MY 1/2007 build. The TSB supposedly posted it affected 4/2007 to like 10/2008 build. Considering the fact I have a 1st year model 335i, I figured it also had the first rendition of the fuel injectors. All said and done... SA calls me, and sheds some decent light of good news. BMWNA will cover about 1K of the bill, and I just have to cover about 500ish...WHEW, WHAT A BREAK!!!! So for all those who are out-of-warranty, doesn't hurt to ask...for some help. Make sure to talk to them very rationally and calmly, and they'll work w/ ya

sounds more like a nightmare then goodwill. With the previous service history on your car, you had some balls to keep it past warranty without extending it.

Agreed, just got my injectors replaced today and the car runs and accelerates like a champ! It was running great before though.

i wouldnt pay anything. bmw is doing these recalls in stages. i have a 1/07 build and my injectors have been replaced under warranty so they are no better than the other build dates. what happens when a new recall is out for your build date? id be pretty pissed about paying money for a recal item. bmw knows they are wrong which is why they are giving in and paying for some.
