a bit pissed

so i took my car into the BMW shop on 2 February, to get a front end damage fixed. cause some asshole backed up into my car while i was in school. anyways guy told me it would be done by thursday, its now friday. he calls me back saying the bumber arrived damage, and they now have to reorder a new one. so once that gets in and they put it on paint it, etc, check my steering cause its weird. it would all be done by wednesday of next week.

thats 2 weeks of not having my car. and i'm driving a PIECE OF SHIT rental all manual locks, manual windows etc. sorry have to vent.

but i was wondering if thier was anything i could do. i kind of wanted my car back before friday since its today is now my girls bday, and also 14 february is valentines...

Doesn't really seem like it's the fault of the shop that the bumper arrived damaged so nothing you can really do here. It sucks that you're driving a crappy rental, did your insurance not cover something better? I would just stick it out for a few more days, wed isn't that far away.

What car you drive doesn't really effect v-day...or at least it shouldn't.

Thats sh!tty but unfortunately there is much you can do. At least the shop didn't throw on the busted up new bumper just to get it done in time for you.

Since it's just a 328i, you can find a friend that is part of the zip car program and have them rent you one for cheap. It is too short notice for you to join the program now yourself.

Or if the car matters that much, you can rent a much nicer car for the weekend and have more fun with it. We have a shop here that rents everything from a m3 convertible to Ferrari californias.

Don't worry about it dude. It isn't the shops problem it arrived to them damaged. It was probably the carrier who delivered it to them. Don't be pissed about it, there are many other things to get you angry than something as minor as this. Be there for your girl, she won't care what you're driving.

How much per day does your insurance company reimburse you for a rental? I just got hit by someone who ran a stop sign so my car is in the shop getting a new rear bumper and wheel panel. The rental company showed up with a Hyundai Accent and I said, "um, no". I get $30 a day, and then USAA gets discounts so I'm currently driving a Dodge Dakota 4x4 until a standard car becomes available. Look into it.

Oh, and the body shop estimates 16 working days which puts me out until March. I'm hoping they're just lowering my expectations; I miss my bimmer.

You should be grateful the bodyshop is honest enough to tell you that the part came busted instead of trying to fix something broken. Is a rental without power options really gonna affect your Valentines Day? I definitely think there is more worse things to complain about then your car having to be in the shop a little longer and a cheap rental. BTW not trying to be an ass just saying.

Same thing happened to me. Same part and all. Ur at the mercy of the shop. It sucks, but when u get ur car back you'll look back and say "it wasn't that bad". Just try to practice patience even though it sucks. Besides, ur in the military, ur used to waiting around.

If you need a car to get laid you might need to work on some other things.

Stuff happens, just be lucky you are getting it repaired on someone else's dime.
