Battery Tender question
I keep hearing about "registering" a new battery in a 335 to make sure it charges the battery correctly, and see there is some difference of opinion on this topic. So I am wondering if I am using a battery tender on a 4 year old battery while it is stored for the winter and it takes it back up to a full charge, will I be I fooling the system into thinking the battery is new, and will my alternator now over or under charge it once I start driving it again?
Thanks! |

Don't worry about it. BMW sells a branded version of the Battery Tender and recommends using one for storage. The Tender will only charge the battery to the state available by the battery. As batteries age they tend to change charging states which the Tender compensates for.

Damn, I was hoping it was the fountain of youth for my battery, lol! Seriously thanks to all who replied. I just didn't know if the tender would hasten the battery's demise after it saved it during the winter.

I've used CTEK for decades. Top quality Swedish product. And yes, don't buy the Porsche, BMW, or Mercedes branded versions. Go direct: www.ctek.com |
