it shouldnt be hanging, it should go into that box, and have a big barrel style connector on it, one end goes to the car, the other to the sensor, maybe you ran something over and ripped it off somehow?

Well, that isn't how that looks from the factory, so something has happened to it since new.

that is very weird that your tire is hitting that, it doesnt look like the actual wire is exposed in the picture, just the tape covering that covers the wires.

do you have stock rims on this car?

one of those wires coming from the box is for the brake sensor. did you check to make sure the other end hasn't fallen out of the brake caliper?

Nope havent checked that, but its kinda sad to see the wires like this, they are out and anything can mess them up. Anyone have a photo of their lil box in the wheel well?

To me it doesnt look like anything is rubbing that wire, just a poor tape job on that wire. Its not bare by any means, just no tape in that spot. It actually looks like 99.9% of all the others Ive seen. There is NO way the tire is rubbing that. If the tire was hitting that wire, you would have some serious issues, and the tire would be hitting the innner frame in that spot. Plus its normal to have dirt inside of that small black box. That just houses the cables for the brake sensor and ABS sensor.

Thank you for that information, why would BMW think they need so much extra cable that they need to roll it up?

Good question, I have no idea lol The only thing I can think of they may use that same harness on other models or the same model with different options ie. non XI or XI etc where it may need a different length.
