335i, Sport package ?
Hi, I just sold M3 and am looking to get a 335i coupe. I found one at a local non-bmw dealership by me that has low miles and is pretty clean, but I can't tell if it has the sport package or not. I stopped by the dealer today, but the salesman had no clue. The window sticker didn't have any of the bmw specific packages on it, just regular standard equipment. Is there a way to tell either by looking at the link to the car below or by plugging in the VIN # somewhere if the car has the sport package? Thanks

I'm not to familiar with bmw's yet but to me it does look like it has sport package, steering wheel is a sports steering wheel but for some reason the wheels are not... I'll let someone else correct me.
edit: I think someone had this car modded before and went back to stock but not the stock wheels that came with the car. Looks from the picture like it has a short shifter and different type of center caps on the wheels.

Yeah, I thought so too, but then I read a few posts about the seats having bolsters that were in the sport package, and I don't know the difference between them. The wheels are 17", and the car has a leather interior, not leatherette, if that makes any difference.

Leather comes with premium package not sport package. The seats in the car are not sport seats, so it doesn't have sport package. Hope that helps. That year if you didn't have sport package, you didn't get an oil cooler either.

Typically, OEM sports pkg should have 18" wheels, but i don't know if the previous owner had done something (mods). As for the sports seats, there should be side bolsters that you can control with a button towards the bottome of the seats, leftside on driver seat and right side on passenger seat. (either tighter or looser). Also, the steering wheel grip is larger than non-sports...hope this helps.

That car does not have the sport package. Tell tale signs are the sport seats like someone else said above, as well as the 18 inch 5 spoke wheels.

No sport, the coupe comes with a sport steering wheel, sport suspension to begin with, the seats are not sports, as well as the rims.

Yup, and in this case the car OP is looking at does not have the sports package. Almost 99% sure just from the looks of the front seat (and wheels).

no sports package, same reasons stated above.
no sports seats, no shadowline trim, different rims, also check the front passenger side fender and see if theres vents for theadditional oil cooler, if no vent, then no oil cooler = no sport. |

Steering wheels are frequently swapped out as are wheels but the dead give-away is usually the seats.
Sports seats have an extendable thigh support so the seam along the front is straight rather than curved in this picure. In addition, you can usually see the gap between the thigh support and the seat. Go to BMWUSA and spec out any 3 series. Select sport package and watch the seats change configuration. Once you've seen the seats you'll be able to spot a sport package a mile away. |
