hood not staying latched tightly-335d

Heads up - twice now I've had to pull off the highway because I've noticed the hood not staying latched down. Don't have reason to open it much, so the other week pulled off the highway b/c it looked like it was moving. It somehow had come open a bit and I pressed hard and it latched. Then just the other day was looking at the car in the driveway and the driver's side looked a bit higher than the passenger side. Gave it a little tug and sure enough it was loose again. Not staying latched completely in the front. The U brackets on the hood underside seem awfully loose also. Off to the dealer tomorrow..... Weird!!

The "D" rings on your hood should not be loose at all.

Same thing is happening to my car. I have a dealership appointment next week to fix it. It seems to be related to the spring on the latch itself in my car. It is super slow and will not snap back into place. In the mean time if you push down a bit over the affected D ring, it will close.

Check the bumper stops on both corners near the head lamps one side may be to high or to low.

Same thing happened to me as well...

Took like 15 minutes at the dealer. They said the latch wasn't aligned. I guess some german was having a bad day. Works perfectly now!

At dealer now-seems the latch that the D ring goes in to was sticking open. Lubed latch and seems okay for now.

Well, that was at the dealer. Had the oil changed, prog. update, etc. Hood was closed when I left the dealer. Ran it on some errands and when I went to get in at the last stop, I noticed the driver's side of the hood had popped open again So, the fix lasted all of 1 hour. Guess I'll have to keep an eye on it and hope it doesn't fly open on the highway....

Guess I'll compare the right side bumper, not having a problem w/ that side, to the left and see if there is a difference. Also, the srvc mgr today took the D ring stop off the side that was popping open and messed w/ the position of the that... Just don't want to start messing w/ too much at once and really throw it out of wack.
