E90 interior room vs New F10 5-series

So I have sat in the new F10 5-series many times in the show room floor, adjusted the front driver seat and passanger seat and then jumped in the back seat. I can't help but to think or feel that there really isn't too much of a gain in interior room or space over that from my E90.

Does anyone else here feel like this? Considering the exterior size of the new F10, shouldn't it feel much larger than our E90's in the interior room?

5-series has always been like that. Rear seat space is limited, even the 7 series regular wheelbase has a deep trunk, but pretty bad legroom when compared to reg wheelbase Lexus LS. BMW's have pretty poor rear seating space in general. Good for small kids, and then there are the seats - in a Volvo you get great rear seats, in BMW, the damn rear seats are like a flatboard!

When we were younger, my parents specifically bought a Volvo instead of a 5, because the old 5 series in the 90's couldn't possibly accommodate growing kids in the back. Made a poor family car -- the 7 Series was the only good family option.

Its all about trade-offs...a lot of people wonder why anyone would buy a Volvo, I did too! Sometimes people have other priorities. The new 5 doesn't even drive that well either, its a cruiser now, no longer a sporty sedan. Still the best in class.

rear seats in the E60 suck too, so i cant imagine the F10 being much better.

There is more width and marginally more legroom in F10, the 3 series is more upright though, thats why they feel close in terms of legroom.

F10 has a huge trunck (50% larger).

BMW can easily engineer more legroom for 5 series, but then nobody will buy the 7 series, it is a marketing tool.

I like the packaging of the 3 series, pretty comfortable back seat for such a compact car.

It's WAY wider than a 3. Rear legroomis definitely better, but not HUGE like a Passat.

I will agree that it is wider but rear legroom still is not that much more than a 3.

I had a 545i a year ago and honestly the new F10 interior is smaller.

We had a 2005 E60 530i Sport and we also found the new F10 5-series interior smaller.
