Water light = water pump. Is is still under warranty then take it to the dealer. If not, find a good INDY in the regional forum on this site. Also, might as well replace the thermostat.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

You mean you love BMWs. Over 50,000 miles and you only had one problem.

By the way, it is only over by 670 miles, ask the dealer and BMWNA for a "good will" repair. How long was it out of warranty?

What's your temperature at? Do you have any coolant leaks? If all of those are normal and there's a water light that comes on... It could mean you have a stuck thermostat, or low on coolant which is why your fan switches on frequently to constantly cool down your motor. Take it to a shop for confirmation, and get it repaired asap before it leads to other problems. GL.
p.s. Open your hood more often to check all your fluids to verify if they are leveled to specs. Check at least every 3000 miles or less. |
