Interesting experience with Corvette

So I rented a Corvette from Hertz to drive up to Orlando for a few days (didn't want to put miles on my 335 since I'm almost over warranty). I noticed something a bit strange. Everyone was nice to me! It was crazy!

It seemed every other Corvette I passed would wave or give me a thumbs up. Even had a Camaro do it. While waiting at the light I would have tourist drive up next to me and say "beeeuteeful!". I had kids on the side walk commenting on the car, I had people in the really bad part of town (went to pick up a friend) give me thumbs up and comment on the car.

Now given it was bright yellow and convertible, but still I found it very strange compared to my 335 where people seem to go out of their way to cut me off.

The Corvette is a very-well respected car and an icon of American muscle. People generally like the cars overall and they are much more rare than a 3-series.

Alot of BMW drivers are also d-bags whereas you will find the older crowd driving Corvette's down the highway just cruising with the top down or windows open.

Thats how the American car enthusiasts are. Theres a level of comraderie (sp) there that most other drivers never experience. Most BMW, MBZ, Porsche drivers have sticks up their butts or its some kid who's parents just bought them a car and gives them unlimited funds to mod.

I will say it was pretty sweet. The sound and pull was just insane. Not so sure about a daily driver though.

This is true and sad. It's actually one of the cons I think of owning a BMW.

Probably mainly has to do with the number of them seen on the road. There are SO many people driving 3 series vehicles, and BMW has much more subtle styling. When people see a corvette they automatically think expensive race car.

Sorry, what I was saying is that you were in Orlando. I'm not surprised that people love a good vette there.

Only about 49k. Every other time I go I drive there in reverse so it cancels out.

yeah, I used to get that a lot when I had a P-car... never happened in a Bimmer... unfortunately most Bimmer drivers are stuck up and into themselves... not like the fine folks on this forum though! ha

I like the anonymity and discreet nature of the 3. I came from a domestic platform and I say that it is better to go fast AND draw the least amount of attention .

I use to drive a WRX before I got my 335xi. I miss the hand waves and thumbs up from other WRX drivers.

+1

+ the Corvette is a sick looking car...its not my kind of car, but it looks SIIICK...straight mean. Way better looking than a 911 (which if it had the engine in the middle, is my kind of car)

Corvette looks like Ferrari-light...big, broad, low, sleek. It obviously looks a tad cheaper, but then -- it is considerably cheaper than a Ferrari!

Its easily affordable, same price as a 335i, +/- 5 K

These days every young 20's ...has a pre-owned beemer or even new beemer courtesy of easy financing. They really are driven by cocks.

Yeah me neither until I went on their site to look for a car. I later learned it's a special model made for Hertz. Its called the ZHZ and is basically a base Corvette with I think a special exhaust and what not that adds a couple hp (I think it's like 436 total). I'm sure the hardcore vette guys could spot it since it has that yellow and black paint job. I would definitely rent one again it was super fun especially on the highway where you can let it roar.

The biggest flaw IMO is just the shitty interior. I mean every aspect of it was just garbage. Looked and felt like the interior of an 80s car. However once you get over 5k rpm and that sweet sweet sound hits your ears... it doesn't really matter if the interior was made of leopard skin.
