Cool iphone snap in adaptor problem

New here first post.
Picked up my new F10 520d M Sport yesterday and am delighted with it !
Only problem so far is when using the snap in adaptor for my i phone I am unable to access my music. However if I use the white apple cable and plug the phone in via the usb in the armrest it is accessible. I selected both 6FL & 6NF options so unsure what the problem is - anybody any ideas ??

There are in fact 3 different adapters, so maybe you have the wrong snapin.

Snap-In-Adapter Apple iPhone™ 4 Basic für Fahrzeuge mit SA 633 oder SA 644
Snap-In-Adapter Apple iPhone™ 4 Music für Fahrzeuge mit SA 633 oder SA 644 und SA 6FL und SA 6NF
Snap-In-Adapter Apple iPhone™ 4 Media für Fahrzeuge mit SA 633 o. 644 und SA6FL und SA 6NF und SA 6VC

Yep, and I believe 6NF (with the correct spec snap in as above) may only work with iPhone 4 and 3GS.

How much did the snap in adapter cost? I'm due first week in March! Sounds like I'm pregnant, lol!

What's wrong with using the White iPod/iPhone cable, at £139 and Sytner telling me there is a waiting list... I think I'm going to stick with the white cable and spend the money on fuel... Sports mode for me!!!!

How do you find Sytner Nottingham to deal with? I've ordered with them and i have not had a face to face meeting yet. I will collect in early March.

Yup. The standard cradle has no connections for audio out from the phone let alone video out ... Which is all supported by the media cradle.

I didn't order from sytner, company lease, went in for a look, when they found out it was a company they didn't deal with they basically walked off! ( almost understandable ) For service there ok, I used to own a mini and I couldn't complain... We'll see what happens when the F11 goes in...

More news from dealer today:
- iphone4 adapter is overheating the phone ( both streaming music and charging at the same time ). All adapters recalled and a new design with built in fan will be produced. On the market late summer......

Just now my friend called and said he got his iphone4 adapter for his Audi RS6. WTF......

Hello all. Still a little confused here.

Picking up 520d M F11 in 2-3 weeks (being built next week I'm told) with options:

6FL
6NF &
6NR (added to original order)

What do I need to get my iPhone 3GS to work to its full potential with all these options?

i.e. Bluetooth phone, Bluetooth music, Album art etc

White "Apple" USB lead OR some kind of snap-in adapter?

+ I've got an iPod with bigger capacity (32GB) with more music on etc than iPhone.....would I be able to utilise this somehow as well??

Thanks in advance

They are 2 separate things, usb connection you could use for your old ipod and store it under the armrest. You need to get the adapter(does not come with the car) for the iphone and since you have the options needed you can also use that to play music and you are also getting connection to the external antenna.

these stories above just goes to show that BMW should stick to cars and leave connectivity to apple, samsung and the likes. BMW connectivity is just too expensive, fragmented, lacks usability and cant keep up with everchanging innovation in this field. Why do I need a car internet device anyway when i can access the apps directly from my iphone/ipad in the car. Or do you need Facebook, Twitter while driving the car?

Snap in issues

This is an interesting post, because my dealer accidentally forgot to order my new F10 with 6NF and so I had to choose between using a Y-lead and getting reduced signal, or using the snap in and having to use an iPod as well...

But looking at the inside of the central console, with the snap in, USB and aux all with a few cm of each other, I thought it ought to be possible to make a slight mod that connected the USB and aux outputs of the lower section of the snap-in (the bit that connects to the console itself) to the underside of the USB/Aux component. My dealer finally agreed with me, tried it last week, and it works.

So, now I can put my iPhone 3GS (until the new iPhone 4 adaptor comes out) into the snap in and get the power, external antenna and music from it *without* having 6NF.

Here in the US, there is and adapter for a 3G only. Will not work with 3GS.
I tried the adapter, figured out it would not work with my 3GS. Also did not care for it since I could not use a cover for my phone and then put it in the adapter. Find using the cable the best solution.
But, I would also say the music quality with the iPhone interface is quite poor. Best solution is to save music to a USB stick and download it to the hard drive. Interface is good and music quality is excellent.

my 3Gs works with 550i xdrive

As mentioned earlier, what is key is to get the right adapter, there are a bunch of them and for an F10 made after October 2010, the 3GS "Media" adapter is needed. Mine works no problem, full music integration, display of cover art, etc. A nice thing I discovered is that I can use Pandora and other audio sources on the iphone and while it is in the snap in adapter, this audio takes priority and is what gets played through the sound system.

Most of the issues people experience is because they get the wrong adapter.
