Best tire SIZE on stock 162's?
I've narrowed my tire selection to a couple of tires and can't afford tires and new wheels so need to improve traction on my stockers
I don't want to affect ride or responsiveness (ie turn in) so was wondering if I should just go one size up all the way around...235/40/18 and 265/35/18 or should I max out the rim with something like a 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 OR b/c I am going with a NON RFT stay with OE sizes since these tires should be that much better. Thanks for your time and help Cheer

I think the oem sizse are good on the 162 since they're on 8" and 8.5" wide.

Personally I would stick with OEM sizes by getting a good tire you will improve the grip much more than changing the size of tire. Lots of great tires in OEM sizes these days. I put Michelin PS2's on recently and they are fantastic. I hear the Continental DW is really good also and much cheaper.

235/40R18 is possible on the front wheels, but they are only marginally wider. Tires http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AH8&...ires/index.jsp

I would recommend to stay with the OEM sizes. Upgrading to non-RFT tires is already a sufficient improvement. The rims are not wide enough to get a wider tire in properly.

I've noticed my 07 335i sport package with stock 18" rims has a fast speedo of about 5% (reading about 3 mph higher than actual speed). Would going with a 265/40-18 or 255/40-18 rear help with this? I'd really like to go with a 235/40-18 front and 265/40-18 rear, but it seems most are against a little wider tire. Maybe go with same stock 225/40-18 front with a 255/40(slightly taller)-18 rear?
What are your thoughts Gary?
