Picked up E92 325i Coupe Today!
Hi all,
Im new to the site so hello and im glad to be here! As the thread suggests just picked up my E92 325i Coupe SE today. Previously I have owned 2 E46 M3 coupes and an X5 4.4i and thouroughly enjoyed them but due to fuel economy and a larger family have been driving an Audi for the last year! Delighted to be back in a BMW and my first impresions are wow! Im delighted with the car and am very impresed with the drive and car in general. Its a 56 plate 325i SE coupe with 78,000 miles with sport suspension and 18" upgraded wheels, other than that I think car is fairly standard? It has electric memory seats and auto climate control are these standard specification? Also bi-xenons are these standard? What kind of mpg can I expect from the car and is there anything to watch out for in the early weeks of ownership? All info and advice received with thanks and I look forward to being an active member of the forum! Best wishes Adam |

nice one. 325i is a sweet lump, loves to rev. Is it the 2.5 engine? if so they seem more reliable than the later ones. Mine hasn't missed a beat, it had a slight lumpy idle speed on cold start, but this dissapeared after changing plugs and running on V Power

Welcomes I also have a 325i (3.0 engine) had it since end of Aug and had no probs at all, although i've only done a few hundred miles in it.
I get around 24.6mpg on average, haven't done a long run in it to see if it improves or not. usually take it to work on a sat (10 miles each way) and doesn't seem to improve at 70mph there and back.... Get some pics up, 325i seem's fairly un-common!

As Carl said, all three items you mentioned were standard on the car. However, current versions of the 325i have only part electric seats (in SE form) not the all electric memory job.
Because of changes to the specification of the car, in comparison with your car, a new 325i: has 2 lashing down hooks in the boot and not 4. Has no cupholders in the rear. Has no nets in the back of the front seats. Has no cooler compartment under the glove box. Has no residual heat function (REST) in the heating system. Has no sound insulation under the bonnet. Does not have servotronic steering. Has plastic sun visors instead of visors which match the headlining. Some of these items can be acquired by parting with money, some cannot. So, in a way, you have some options you didn't know about! |

Congrats on new car; hope you like enjoy!
Sorry to highjack thread but... Is it ABSOLUTELY correct that newer (LCI) cars do NOT have the residual heat/REST function? I was under the impression that the "ALL" button does the same thing when the engine is off? |

If you've been running the car for some time (i.e. it's up to temp) when you park up and switch the engine off, you can press the "REST" button and still heat the cabin (while the engine still has heat in it). It's actually pretty useful and means you don't have to have the engine running for warmth (assuming it's already up to temp). |

Who has an LCI vehicle with a manual and can clarify? Or has used it with another button combo? |

The ALL button simply allows you to adjust both sides of the car with the driver's side temperature control. So many Americans, in particular, moaned about having to adjust two temperature controls (due to being compulsive about having the same temperature on both sides) and, at the same time, had no idea what the REST button was for, that the BMW bean counters seized upon the opportunity to save some money.
Adding the functionality to allow one knob to control both sides, allowed them to remove the REST function which saved them the cost of a secondary heating system. Most of the dilution in specification took place from March '09 but the plastic sun visors in the coupe happened in March '10. M-Sport coupes weren't as affected as SE versions because m-sport build costs in relation to retail price had a lot more padding but they still got the plastic visors and lost the servotronic steering and all the other small items. |

Having a Google around seems to indicate the REST function is available on LCI cars by using iDrive or the fan button. Last edited by G82Dude; 01-23-2011 at 06:05 AM.. |

My 56 plate 325i coupe has plastic sunvisors sadly. Are you sure they were meant to have ones that matched the roof as standard?
Cant imagine someone would change them to plastic ones by choice. |

I didn't know that. The matching sun visors must have been brought in from September '07.
