AWD/DSC malfunction rough idle - stall
This morning my 2007 328xi idled rough on start up and then stalled. When I restarted, the BMW assist read a AWD/DSC error and reduced power. The brake light was on as well as the system error light. No more rough idling, and no problems driving and the light when off after arriving at work (and restarting engine).
It was cold and icy out - so I was trying to de-ice when the issue originated. Just bought the car - and it has a dealership warranty for 6 months. Especially worried about the rough idle and stalled engine issue. Any ideas what this could be? Want to get some opinions before I bring it in tomorrow. Any help? |

So the light went away? Do you know if you still have AWD? What about ABS?
Try replacing fuse #20 behind your glove compartment. |

Do your buttons on the steering wheel work along with your gauges when you have the lights on with the car running/driving? If they don't there is a good chance it is fuse #20 behind the glove box

gauges and lights work fine. i'd like to take it to the dealership, but i'd have to uninstall my Cobb AP and then my guess is they're not going to be able to replicate the problem because it happens very rarely. will the codes still be stored from these issues if I uninstall my cobb?

My wife usually drives this car, and she says that she's noticed intermittent rough idling throughout last few months. I drove the car in town the day before, and it seemed fine, except for a Service Engine Soon light coming up in the middle of a 20-minute ride and then disappearing some minutes later. I also checked fuse #20: it's fine. I pulled all the same fault codes as the OP with a recently purchased BT tool, and then some. Here's a partial list: 2A43: [Engine module] Valvetronic, thermic overload protection: warning threshold 2A1A: [Engine module] tank ventilation system, function 2A41: [Engine module] Valvetronic, electronic overload protection 5F77: DME-Error: DME sends torque value=invalid (PT-CAN, ID 0xA8, Signal ST_RCPT_ENG_DSC) A10A: [Car Access System] EWS4 timing challenge/response error A107: [Car Access System] EWS4 CAN frame error A0B5: [Car Access System] Signal identification peed error E104: [Instrument cluster PL2] CAN low error E598: [Footwell module (FRM)] ? 9CC3: [Footwell module (FRM)] Mirror heating driver side defective A8AD: [Footwell module (FRM)] ? E723: [Heating and Air conditioner (IHR/IHKA)] CAN message: Status front disc fitting 55C3: [Transmission distribution module] 55C3 VGSG-all-wheel-Notlaufregelung activated. No DXC index moment requirement. I just got the BT tool, and I'm still struggling to figure out all that's wrong with the car. I would really appreciate any help diagnosing this or any other issue indicated by these fault codes. Last edited by BillyG; 03-17-2014 at 12:49 PM.. |
