Low level humming noise coming from engine bay when car is off???
I got home an hr ago and parked the car in the garage. Im sitting in the garage cleaning my shoes when I notice a low level humming coming from the engine. It would last maybe 3-5 secs, and it happened every 5 mins or so.
I have an 08 335i Sedan w/ iDrive. What is that noise? ANyone else experience this? |

I've heard the noise but only after shutting off the car, then sitting in it for a few min. it would start after roughly 1-2min and last around 5 sec. After this it would not make the noise anymore. I'm assuming the car closes something so that dirt/whatever can't get in while its off? either that or its a hidden antennae

Its the electric water pump cooling things down.

I think there's a bee's nest or rodent living in my wife's night stand.
Every once and awhile I'll hear buzz buzz noise comming from wife's night stand. The more i think about it im going to tell her about it tonight and I'll kill whatever's in there. Better safe then sorry. ppp

My new (to me) 07 335xi makes all sorts of noises I'm not used to. There's the water pump noise you refer to, but there's also some sort of whirring when I do something like open the door later on to get something out of the car (I don't keep it locked in the garage). I haven't spent much time investigating it, though.

That's your fuel pump priming. Its activated by opening your door or by unlocking with the key fob. Supposedly its suppose to cure the hpfp problem.
