Issue with Airbag and Seatbelt light. Code CC-ID 97
I have an 06 330i that for the past few weeks has been having an issue with Airbag and Seatbelt light coming on - showing Code CC-ID 97 on the dash light.
It is intermittent.. some times its on .. other times its not. I read that it might be a seatbelt sensor for the driver but have not found any info on how to correct. Would prefer not to take it to the stearlership. Thanks for any help. |

Did you do the recall on the seat mat sensor?

It's a recall so you can still have it for free.

HI guys,
I'm also curious if I have this same issue: '07 328 little light up on the headliner, in front of the moonroof, indicating the passenger airbag is off. Happens when someone is sitting in the seat, but only randomly. Same issue as the recall for the sensor? |

i have been driving with the airbag and seat-belt light for 6 months now.. i called the dealer in Faroe islands and told then about this, they said that if i want to fix this i have to go to America and get it fixed, because the car was bought from there... I'm having a hard time to believe this..

I just had the same issue on my 07 328. Seatbelt and airbag lights lit up. It turned out to be very stupid. One of my sons toys had went under the seat and was pressing on the connector. They removed the toy and reset and all has been good.

Its solid yellow, light up on headliner (right of the sunroof switch). Its always off with no one in the seat, but my wife in the seat (pretty small, but weighs...ahem...130 pounds) its on and off randomly. Am I just confused about what the light means? It clearly states Airbag Off, so why at random times does it come on and off with the wife in the seat? No airbag light in dash--just the one up top...
I guess its the apparent randomness of the thing that has me suspicious...could just be that wifey is right on the line for the weight?? Would like to have the airbag deploy in the event of a crash--I still like the woman |

I think your wife is right on the boarder (that was close, my iPhone tried to correct it to larder x_x, stupid rude ass iPhone.) That light comes on when there is an occupant below the specified weight. The airbag will not fire in an accident. When there is no occupant, the airbag is deactivated but te light remains of so it won't bother you.

I was unaware of a sport seat (which I have) mat recall. Damn it, these recalls seem rather numerous compared to the Hondas and Mazdas of my past. But the dealer happily replaced it under warranty (or recall, who knows that issue for sure, anyone?).
Is taking even longer than the exhaust lifer replacement... |

Count me in on the same boat. I was just thinking how great my 330i is doing, no CEL's or other weirdness, and then this past December I started getting SRS warning lights, and now they are almost daily.
This thread has some good info http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=358892 My 330i with sport seats is a June 2006 production date, and reading through the NHTSA letters, it seems the faulty mat/installation method affect the earlier run of 330i. It says they made a change mid-way through the MY 2006 run. At first it started happening when a larger passenger would sit in the passenger seat and move the seat back. I get two small warning lights and the larger airbag in the center information display. A passenger cracked me up when he remarked "what does that icon of a belted passenger holding a giant egg on his lap mean' Oddly, now I'm starting to get the error when it's just me driving the car, no passengers. It's been unusually cold in Charlotte since mid-November and I've been using the seat heater almost daily. I wonder if that doesn't compound a failing/cracked mat sensor. |

I have the same issue. I called BMW and they said my car was not effected by the recall. I have an extended warranty so I will be taking it in soon. I am curious what they will find as the issue.

Recall only affects 06 models with sport seats.....3 series, x5 and x3 models.
I had my passenger side sensor mat replaced under CPO a month or 2 ago because it was intermittently telling me the passenger restraint system has failed.....continue wearing seat belts. The mat tends to crack.....kneeling on the seats aggravates/accelerates the problem. It wasn't under the recall but should be covered under CPO if your car falls out of the recall date range. |

If its a seat mat sensor, there is a warranty extension to 10 years and unlimited miles. That seems to be the most common repair for airbag light coming on

there are other threads on this forum concerning this seat mat sensor problem, and it stated that you don't need to have a sport seat. standard seats are included. dont know where the thread is though.

I have a '06 325i E90, sport seats with the same problem, CC-ID 97, seatbelt and airbag light on. Called the dealer, they told me there are no recalls for my car. Is the stealer also a liar or did you guys confuse the 4 year/50K factory warranty with a recall? Didn't think so.
Where can I find official info on this recall? Do I need to sick BMW_North_America on the dealer? I'm in the Pacific NorthWest. |
