PSA, good news if you need a jack

stopped by harbor freight today and bought this, $19.99. turns out that the head fits perfectly into the stock jack pads. jack works excellently, and is BY FAR the best low cost option to the BMW jack for an emergency car jack. if you even think you might need to have one in the car, buy this jack.

I would not trust getting under my car being held up by a $19 scissor jack. Waste of $19 imo.

car is supposed to be held up by jack stands anyway. never trust any jack no matter how much it costs.

As OP said best jack for emergency fix's. I got the bmw oem emergency kit and don't trust that bmw scissor jack at all. I used to use it to swap my summer and winter wheels now I got a jack to speed up my wheel swapping times. Wouldn't think of getting under the car with only a jack supporting it, especially a scissor jack.

first off i'm not sure what happened to this thread, i thought there were other posts and responses from this morning, something seems to have happened.

second, this is an emergency jack to keep in the trunk to change a flat tire, i'm not advocating using it for anything else.

i'm not sure if you're joking or not, but somehow my other thread got closed and this one started without my knowledge. i have no idea how.

and i'm not spamming anything, i was looking for quite a while for an emergency jack that would work well with the stock jack pads, and this fits the bill, figured i'd pass the info on to other forumites who may have the same problem.

LOL, you've never heard of harbor freight???? seriously?

Like the OP said, this can be handy to change a tire if you don't have runflats. Most people don't carry a floor jack in the back of their car 24/7.

For those that don't know Harbor Freight is a coporate monster when it comes to supplying industrial needs. Harbor Freight spamming e90post for a $20 jack would be like the Federal Reserve advertising their $20 bonds in the OT section here.

With that said this is a useful cheap emergency jack. Better than BMW's $150 one that does the same thing. The OP still hasn't answered if it fits in the compartment in the trunk.

Perrsonally I use slime and road side assistance.

Or ANYTHING from Harbor Freight!
That place sells shit. 100% shit. If you don't agree then you just don't know what a real tool looks like. Period.

And sorry to the OP, not trying to offend you but that dam junk shop should be put out of biz.

i cant say for sure, i have a 328, which has a much bigger compartment in the trunk due to the single exit exhaust. fits fine in mine.

i take no offense of course, i didnt make the jack

but seriously, as some one said, the stuff from harbor freight is hit or miss. a lot of their branded stuff is going to be sourced from the same offshore shops that other branded stuff is, duralast, husky, stanley, etc - it's just rebranded.

i'm a tool guy, and most of my stuff is mac, snap-on, S-K or craftsman. many of them were passed down from my father to me, so i appreciate quality tools.

every now and then you find something that's decent and serves a purpose at harbor freight, a good example is last year, i had to demolish my old concrete patio before pouring a new one. i had 5 buddies over to help, so i needed 5 sledge hammers - of course i bought $15 hammers from harbor freight instead of $80 craftsman ones. i big blunt object is hard to mess up.

anyway, i'm no harbor frieght shill, i dont advocate doing anything with this jack except changing a flat on the side of the road. under no circumstances should you be ever under the car when you do this.

cheers to all.
