difference between E90 and E92 (328i xdrive)

I drove 2011 E90 328i xdrive /w sports package for few weeks, now I have E92 328i xdrive /w sports package. I thought the difference between two are just 2 door vs 4 door, but it seems there are definitely some other subtle differences that make the coupe (E92) a little better?

- sports steering wheel on E92 is fatter (feels like M-sport)
- chrome trim piece on the steering wheel on E92 is more shiny (ie. E90 has matt finish)
- in fact, all E92 chrome trim pieces are more glossy than E90
- exhaust note is different? I can definitely tell it sounds different, but not sure if it is supposed to be like this
- suspension is considerably firmer, I thought all xdrives don't have sports suspension
- new E92 has nice interior mood lighting on doors, like in 5 series, very nice!

xDrive vehicles can have the sport package, but they do not get the sport suspension.

I am also interested to know about exhaust notes on 2011 e90 versus coupes. E90 exhaust note is muted. In my 2011 128i loaner it sounds really nice, even at low RPMs. Do coupes get different exhaust systems than e90?

I've seen pictures on this forum that have confirmed that the coupes and sedans have the same mufflers but the piping between the downpipes and the mufflers were different (different cat location, x-pipe, etc.)

X-drive vehicles have their own suspension... period. It is not labeled sport but it sure is not the base suspension. My e92 335xi with sport and 18s felt much more solid in corners than the base 328.

I went from a 2009 E90 335i xDrive to a 2011 335i E92 and noted the same excet the steering wheel. Same padding but the leather on the E92 wheel is smooth. Also, I now have a sports suspension since I decided against xDrive.

Thats pretty cool. Even the BMW PE does not give the same effect on the e90. Its a different note all together in the coupes I guess. Maybe there is an aftermarket exhaust available for the e90, that would make it sound more like the stock 128i? There's probably something in the mod forum
