Just got my car back from the dealership with a question.
Just got my car back after I left it for oil change, rear brake pads change, wiper and recall about the hpfp. A question for you N54 drivers that already performed the recall, do you feel your car getting slower? My car has the Dinan stage 2 software and I felt that the car was not accelerating as fast as before I left it for the recall. Is this normal? Or the dealer possibly forgot to put back the Dinan software when they did the reprogram?
Thanks guys.

Thanks for the fast reply bro. Yeah I'm planning to call them tomorrow, but I would like to get some feedbacks from fellow members also.

Of course they didn't put back the software. The whole purpose of the BMW software update is to control engine settings to keep the HPFP from failing.
The Dinan software isn't written to that requirement so why should the dealer put it back? |

So basically I paid 2k for the dealership to put the Dinan software in and then when they perform their so called recall they will not put it back? What is the purpose of them selling the Dinan software in the first place?

The re-flash should be on your paperwork. If not, they didn't do it. I just got new BMW software, and had to remind them to re-flash Dinan. They then billed Dinan for the labor to re-flash, so for sure there will be paperwork on it...they won't just re-flash Dinan without there being documentation.

AFAIK, BMW no longer has a relationship with Dinan (although some dealers continue to sell Dinan stuff.) Think this through logically from BMW's position before you go ballistic. BMW has an issue with HPFPs failing and have developed a software fix for that issue. Part of that software fix is to prime the pump as soon as you open the door. Other parts involve engine management. The Dinan software does not have that feature. Would you reload the Dinan software that effectively overwrites the BMW software that you just loaded to fix the issue? |

They should 100% have put back the Dinan. They may have just forgotten to do it. I have it on mine, got the HPFP done and the car feels the same to me. Dinan seems to feel best in Sport mode too, definitely no difference here.

OP:
BMW and Dinan still maintain a business relationship, and my dealer sells all the Dinan parts and software. You have to specify that you have Dinan installed or they will not know to reflash it. Either you did't get the Dinan reflashed over the updated stock ECU software, or you didnt specify that the tech perform the "Wastegate Option" when reflashing your BMW software (this allows the original wastegate programming and eliminates the mod they did to rectify "wastegate rattle" complaints). You have to specifically request this or the reflash will give you some lag. My bet is that they didn't reflash your Dinan. I'm going in on the 17th to have my car checked out even though I've already had my hpfp replaced over a year ago. There may be a new software version required or an even newer pump, so I've already made my SA aware that I want the Wastegate Option and the Dinan reflash if they mess with the ECU software.

Well $0 cost to you, my dealer then charged Dinan for $136 worth of labor. My invoice said $0, but my service rep showed me the Dinan invoice. Other dealers might handle it differently.

You mean tell them I'm a retard and I'd rather have something that'll void my warranty and I have to take out and lie about every time I take my car in? Thanks, but I'll stick with what I have. You buy a $50K car and you trust a $300 POS piggyback? Go watch Fast and the Furious again and leave the serious talk for the adults.
