Noob here, just bought 2008 CPO 328i Sedan

It has 46000 miles on it, warrantied till 4/2014 - 2008 CPO 328i Sedan

I didnt qualify for BMW financing so I did not get the maintenance program extention, so I think I have one service before the original 50000 mile marker.

So tell me what I should know about owning this car?

Jet Black/ Dakota Beige
Steptronic - no other options.....

thanks for the help...I had a 06 Mustang GT previous, what a difference !!!

Well what kind of common issues should I expect with this model year?
Also since I got a CPO can I feel warm and fuzzy BMW fixed most of the known issues when they re-conditioned the car or is re-conditioning that just cosmetics?

thanks

I don't buy into lifetime fluids have them changed or change them on your own dime

Although this is the most reliable 3 of the gas powered e90's

The common problems are Head Bolt Breakage and valve ticking

RFT issues do a search on RFT

When a battery is replaced the car has to be reprogrammed to recognize
the new battery so it gets the proper charging rate.

There is no timing belt change because its a timing chain.

You are entitled to one oil change a year regardless of miles (on the computer)while you are
under 50k .

Go over your car very carefully for any cosmetic issues indicative of premature wearing out and get them fixed before the main warranty runs out. CPO does not apply to cosmetic issues. Mine had flaking paint on roof trim plastic. Most mechanical issues are covered by CPO, so less of an immediate concern if everything is working fine at the present.

Good point, today I brought car back into dealership to have them fix two issues, there were quite a few small pinhole size chips in paint (mostly on hood), they spent 4 hours going over the whole car and fixed every little blemish, also the previous owner's tint job was scratched due to improper install ( no felt) , so I had them remove tint, a real PITA job, they did it all gratis (most tint places charge $100+) , great dealership, most dealers would nickel and dime you. Now the car is perfect , getting new tint on wednesday, it will be epic !!!

So far so good.....

I haven't heard of any typical issues with the 328i. Just maintain it regularly. Don't be late on your oil changes. Keep the coolant/antifreeze current, flush the radiator every so many years...it's a car. Take care of it and you'll be fine.

Congratulations on a sage choice of car. I bought a pretty bar 318i as my first BMW and it could not have been a better decision. Less stuff to break and all the driving fun of every other BMW that cost $10-20K more. Enjoy.

Congrats! Just turned mine in. Very fun, reliable car. Issues that did not affect drivability or reliability were valve lifters (metallic ticking noise coming from engine), clunky AT transmission (dealer re program may help). I am sure you will enjoy it!

When you say clunky transmission what exactly do you mean? Also if I wanted to install a Remus exhaust on this car what happens to warranty?

thanks
