Battery help please
Hi, i have a 2007 328i coupe, Left my car parked in a lot from Sunday through thursday(due to the snow). Drove it from thursday until this past sunday for about an average of 1-2 miles a day. (short drive to work). This past sunday I got that yellow battery message on the dash. Do you guys think the battery is bad and needs replacement or should I try testing and charging it at autozone? If it does need replacement can anyone point me to a good replacement (non oem) that will fit and do the job, I'll appreciate the help, thank you.

I can't offer any replacement suggestions, but the first thing I would do is go for a long highway drive without the audio, HVAC, seat warmers, etc. cranked.
(I would also invest in my own multimeter & charger before having it tested by a retailer who also sells batteries, but that's just me ) |

^^^^ Very good advice. I too got the icon after using the bluetooth for 35 min. at 19F, car was sitting 3 days prior.
Went on a trip the following weekend, 2 hrs. each way highway. Next week had an appt. for windshield replacement, state inspection, and mentioned it to SA. She said shouldn't need a battery yet and if so BMW will not replace it under warranty and rarely would < 48 mos. That week I used the bluetooth again as a test after the highway trip, after 45 min., no incidents. Then, the car was last used Thu. before XMAS. Didn't use it until today, again, no incidents. My guess is the battery is not 100% anymore, but the highway drive will charge it up more so than short trips around town. Good luck. |

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

I replaced battery at 80K miles, probably one year before it would have gone out. Got a Deka AGM Group 49 and dealer registered it for half hour shop time charge.

Where'd you get a Deka AGM Group 49 battery? Autozone? O'Reily's? PepBoys?

So far this is the only one I found online; haven't been able to go out due to a cold but would this suffice? I'm planning on getting it registered at an indy shop:

Our cars won't charge the battery until the car has properly warmed up and is at operating temperature.
Short drives will not charge the battery. |

If you are still under waranty, I'd have a dealer check it out. After getting the "Low Battery Voltage" warning, an intermittent fault with the alternator was discovered. It was promptly replaced.

I just read a thread recently where a dude put an aftermarket battery in and it exploded in his trunk while he was driving. The car died in the middle of traffic while smoke coming from the trunk.....
The guy advises not to install an aftermarket battery heres the link: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=468750 |
