Need opinions quick help please!!! M3 TRADE

Okay I am looking to trade in my current 2008 328i for a 2008 M3. Dealer appraised $17.5k

E90 M3:
$46.3 asking
31k miles
CPO
18" wheels
dynamic xenon
black/black
NAVI
manual (non DCT)
new michelins
moonroof

my CPO 2008 328:
I have a lien on it, remaining 18.5k.
37k miles
heated seats
beige leatherette
style 189 wheels w/pirelli
converted xenons w/ OSS
*pretty much stock*

I am pushing the dealer to get it to $20k, which they seem very willing to do as long as i make the purchase. Should i go with it? If they accept my deal for $20k, I can pay off the lien and just use the rest of the money as down payment...there's also the promotion going on which ends today!

Or can i get the dealer to accept $21k, take it or leave it? The m3 has been sitting there since sept.

HELP PLEASE!!! DEAL ENDS 8PM SHARP!

Wait, so what do you need help with again? Are you trying to see whether you should get it? That all depends on whether you can afford it/want it enough. None of us can really help you here.

What else does the M3 have on it? E90 or E92? Manual or DCT? Did they replace all 4 tires? if not how do they rate?

There is always a deal. Don't let the dealer trick you into thinking otherwise, because its not even the end of the month. Just tell them you wanna go elsewhere to see if you'll get a better deal.

So your real question is if the M3 is worth $47.3k

You are making the typical buyers mistake of combining the value of your trade with the value of your new car.

They are offering 17.5 on your trade. You owe 18.5 - so you are upside down by $1000.

Accordingly, you need to add that $1k to the asking price of their car.

Your only question should be "is a 2008 M3 worth $47300?"

What does KBB say?

There's no way that I am going to let my car go for 17.5, private sale is worth a lot more. So I won't let myself be upside down. That's why i offered 20k to them and dealer didn't reject...they just wanted me to finalize it today which I said no.

exactly, is the 2008 m3 worth the 46k, I was also thinking how much lower I can go with it...KBB says roughly $50k...but for 50k,i can just get a little bit over invoice on a 2011 base with nada

That's not quite true.

Today is the "end of the month" for December incentives, so depending on the incentive he might want to do a deal (or not) today.

They can "pay you" $30k for your trade if they have $12k profit in the M3.

Good thing you said no You should read more before making a car buying decision.

well yeah...i'm not walking in there and buying a vehicle without any knowledge, i only went to pick it up for service and was inquiring about numbers...that's it. Then it obviously escalated to "comon buy it now, it's a great offer!" So i just let them keep throwing numbers to see what i'm getting, and coming here for some advice. It's not like I walk into a bestbuy and picking up a game

That's not quite true. Dealers have ways to take advantage of said incentives whether or not they "end."

I once bought a Z4 3.0i with a $7,500 trunk cash deal that had ended 3 months before I bought the car.

I would say don't do it.

iDrive in the 09 alone is worth extra $

Plus, with 2012 here, the 08 is 3, almost 4 years old now.

see if you can do 21k trade in 44k OTD

Then it'll be a better deal

I don't know what is the fair price for an 08 M3, the 07 M5 deal was a reference point.

But the OP was throwing "LOLs" around when he was the one having no clue how trade in and used car buying work.

He has a long way to go before making a decision as big as the one he was attempting.
