Low Coolant Light On?
I have a 2010 335i with 7k miles and I fired it up after a cold night. Immediately, the low coolant light comes on.
I pull back in the garage and check the coolant level. I am not a rocket scientist, but the little bobber seemed to be all the way up in the "full" position. I could push it down and it just bounced right back up. Could this be a false alarm I should just monitor? I notice 0 coolant leaking on the garage floor. Seems the BMW lights are a bit fussy. I had my windshield washer fluid and a light telling me a builb was out come on and they just went away on their own. Any input? Should I get it checked immediately? Car never runs hotter than 235 degrees F. |

Normal. When the car is cold, check the coolant level. If it's low, order the bmw coolant from Tischer BMW (getbmwparts.com) and top it off.

Did I check the coolant level properly by looking at that "bobber" thing? lol...
It was fully in the "up" position and came right back up when I pressed it down. |

Mine was right near the sensor line. The light would only come on when I was not on a level parking area.

Could just be a bad sensor.
Did you check the fluid level correctly? I got a coolant light once on my M3, topped it off.. Couple months later same thing again. Got suspicious, so got the car up, took front plastic pan off, and my lower radiator hose was leaking slowly.. (Worst case scenario of course) Bottom line, car shouldn't need to be topped off with coolant. If so, there is a problem. Or so i hear. |

I had the same thing....just brought it in to the dealer and they topped it off for me for nothing....no issues since.
My SA said it was a normal occurrance in the colder months but if after topping off, it happened again to bring it in.

Took my car in today.
Everyone there said perfectly normal and it was only a bit low, but low. They topped it off along with wiper and I was gone in 10 minutes. They said if I notice it again, come back and they'll run a full test to see if there is a leak. |
