Its rather difficult, I've tried it and not succeeded. I've been trying to do it to wire up my V1 radar detector. check the DIY's for that and see if that helps.

TheMoose recommends looking at DIY instructions from LED interior light installs.
He performed this task and it was rather easy.

Easy peasy to remove to the front and rear domes. Which one are you having issues with?

Front Dome:
1. Flip down visors and turn them out towards the doors.
2. Flip open the little plastic cover on the piece that the visor clips into.
3. Remove the torx screw and take the clip off.
4. You can now pull the front edge of the headliner down.
5. Reach in with you fingers, you should be able to feel to metal clips on either side of the front (towards the windshield)
4. Push in and pull down, the whole dome light console comes out.

Rear Dome:
1. Sit in the back seat.
2. Grab the front of the dome assembly (facing the front of the car).
3. Pull towards the back of the car while pulling down.
3. The whole assembly will come down.

The light bulb itself? Its easy on my car.

Just remove the opaque plastic cover you will have access to all the bulbs.

IDK what screws people are talking about or tools needed.

A bit tricky getting a pry card ( piece of plastic like a plastic putty knife) into the front of the dome light assembly to release the tabs that are holding it in place. If you try the rear dome panel ( just press in on the end closest to the front of the car and pull down) and get a look at how it's held up, you'll have a feeling for what the front looks like and where the tabs are you need to release to get it out. I changed out all my bulbs to LEDs and there is a pretty good DIY for that. Just don't use the DIY that shows you how to remove the sunroof trim panel to get at the dome area!

That's just the map & interior bulb cover. The dome whole panel that holds the light assembly and the sunroof switches etc. needs to be removed to wire up a radar detector from that area.

Are you sure? On my car once you remove that white cover all you see is the bulb - You cannot remove them. You need to drop the whole console and access them from the top. They are in those plastic screw in caps that can only be accessed from the top.

You DO NOT need to remove or loosen trim to do this. Insert a plastic putty blade from the windshield side of the dome cover, about even with the map lights on each side. That's where the metal clips are that hold the dome cover in. Push in on the blade to release the clips and gently pull down and it will release. Might find it helpful to remove the mirror which just twists off and unplugs, but it's not necessary just makes the job easier as it's tight up around the windshield area.

I tried that method and it didn't work for me. I removed the 2 screws and WOW easy as cake!!

Reviving this from the dead. My dome light housing dropped down while I was driving. I could see tool marks on the side of the housing which says to me that it was removed at some point in the past. My problem is I followed the instructions up top to pop the housing back in and the front side( towards windshield ) refuses to stay in place and hangs low. Can someone provide me a photo of the clips on the front end and their proper orientation. I'm thinking they are bent out of shape .

Hmm. My front interior dome light stopped working this morning. To replace the bulb, can I just pop out the plastic cover, twist out and replace the bulb?

the bulb won't twist from the front. It will just pull out. It would only twist if you were to remove the unit, the back part will twist out giving you better access to the bulb.

Really helpful info here guys!! This morning when I was changing all the stock interior lights to LED's and by mistake pushed the bulb holder from the reading light(passenger side)inside the housing. Didn't know what to do!! Read few threads as well as this thread and sorted it out. As some one mentioned earlier, near the reading lights (both) there are two clips, which we needs to be removed to pull the light unit. I didn't remove the sun-visor. Instead I removed the two clips from windshield side of the light unit. I used screw drivers as my tools. As I didn't had any other plastic tools. Once you remove these metal clips, it its just a cake walk. Even when replacing the light globes especially removing reading lights is a pain!! After struggling for more than an hr trying to pull the light bulbs using my fingers and getting bruises on them, I used nose plier to remove bulb!! But be careful and patient. Else you may damage the bulb.

Cheers,
