What a way to start off the new year...with someone running into my parked car!
Found out about an hour ago that someone hit the front of my car. By the looks of the damage it looks like whoever it was, they backed into it. I was in the movie theater when it happened. After I came out from the theater there was a business card from the Harker Heights PD under my wiper stating that my car had been hit and to call the number on the card to get the information from the filed police report. I've called back but the operator took my information so that the officer on site can call me back with the details. I am the type to be cautious where I park, but I guess I can never be too careful. The only damage I have noticed so far is my driver side grill is cracked and scratched on the top, and my hood is dented on the front. It is dark out so I will further check out the vehicle tomorrow. This sucks knowing that the new year has just started. I already started a claim online with my bank and will finish it once I receive the report info. Well, I hope that everyone else is enjoying 2011 so far. Thanks for listening.

Seriously, and doesn't sound too bad at least. Still sucks though.

A few years ago, I had the same thing happen in a movie theater parking lot. Sadly, the scumbag who did it didn't bother to leave a note.

Same here! A green (lol) scrape on front bumper at Central Market. Losers that cannot park well!

I actually had the same type of damage as your car, about 3 months ago. I was in a lowes parking lot and someone wasn't paying attention while backing up because they were trying to look for oil leaks under their car. Front of my hood was dented in about an inch, both grills scratched, and bumper cover had minimal damage, just scraped. The old couple came into lowes and had them call me out on the loudspeaker. When I head first thing that came to mind was "DAMMIT!, You gotta be kidding me!, Haven't even been in for 5 mins!) Anyways, we exchanged information and they said they will pay me cash for the fix, and they insisted that, they already called their son and sent pics of damage and he is in the body repair industry and it is only going to cost $500 to fix. I told them it was going to cost at least $1500, and told them I was going to get an estimate. I got two estimates one for $1600 and another for $2300. The 2300 one let me tour their shop and everything so I went with them, heck I wasn't paying for it ha. All and all I got a performance bumper out of it. Goodluck!

I don't think I am lucky enough to get a performance bumper out of it, but I am glad it worked out in your favor. I do feel lucky that the driver of the other vehicle did report the incident. Still waiting on the officer who filed the report to contact me tomorrow so I can get further details on what happened. But anyways, I am taking the car to a body shop tomorrow to get an estimate. I'll see how that goes. I know for a fact that I need a new left grill. Not too sure what they will do about the hood, but I am sure they will just straighten it out and repaint it. What did they do with your hood N55?

They fixed the dent and repainted it, but for the performance bumper I just paid the difference in cost. The OEM bumper cost $450 and performance bumper was $1100 or something like that, to me it was worth it. I had to get something out of it to please myself lol. Goodluck!
Also, go and get a few estimates check out their shop (if they allow) and make your decision, by law (At least in PA) you get to choose what ever body shop you want. So find the most expensive and nicest! |

I will try and post pics tomorrow. So they replaced your bumper because of the scrapes on it? I would have thought they would just try and repaint that too. But it is great that you got the mtech bumper...for a deal. I will definitely check out a few shops in the area. All of your input is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I figured I am getting full OEM price of the bumper why not upgrade to something better. (Just waiting for someone to hit me in the rear for the rear performance bumper ) I almost did cry and wanted to strangle the people, the car was only a month old off the lot! Haven't checked my carfax yet but it may of scarred it for life. |

Well, here are the pics, done with my android phone, so sorry about the not-so-perfect quality. It really doesn't look like much in the pic, but to me personally it is alot of damage considering the vehicle had no prior dents or dings in it whatsoever. So earlier today I took the vehicle to the body shop for a quote. I was quoted for $1800 which included a brand new hood, a new left front grill, and repainting of the front bumper. The bumper only had very small scratches which you cannot really tell in the pics. I do plan on getting maybe one more quote sometime this week, but am also waiting for the officer to call me still! What the hell. I called the operator once again to contact him, and he still wasn't in yet. Maybe he is the one that hit my car...lol...

I feel your pain man, i just got my 335xi 2 weeks ago and it gets scratched up by some idiot who doesnt know how to park his car was a couple inches away so im guessing whoever it was opened the door like an idiot. Parking anywhere crowded now scares me, especially in my area that has a population of them...
Anyways sorry bout your problem man, at least its getting fixed. |
