What color gets the most tickets?
My wife and I have been back from Germany with her car only three weeks and I told her it was only a matter of time before she got a ticket in her Crimson red E90. Well that time finally came and she got pulled over today and she said she was in a group of several other cars on the interstate in GA all doing 10 over. So what's your consensus on the most pulled over BMW color?

I use to get pulled over a lot when I had my bright red m3. Since I've had my SGM e90 I have yet to get stopped.
My bet is that bright red cars are pulled over more than any other color as a percentage. |

I have been driving my 350+ HP silver Z for about 22 years and have never been pulled over. This Spring I finished restoring my 150HP, red Z. On the maiden test drive, I got pulled over! RED ftw!

I would say it's probably more a function of what kind of driver you are. A conservative driver in a red car may get zero tickets whereas a flamboyant driver in a white car may get many.

Almost all my cars (8+) have been arrest-me-red and I haven't gotten a ticket scince I learned to drive, in a silver car, which I got 5 tickets in.
Snopes has an article on red cars being pulled over more often. They have found the claim to be false: http://www.snopes.com/autos/law/redcars.asp For some reason people act like a red car will get pulled over 10 times more, that's simply not true. The rule I follow is that I always do 9 mph over the limit, it's never gotten me into trouble scince I've followed it. Myth busted. |

Correlation does not imply Causation!
You really should think if it's the color's that stand out which gets the most tickets, or are the drivers who are more prone to speeding who buy cars in colors that stand out. |

There have been lots of studies that have debunked the old theory that red cars get more tickets.
The car that stands out gets the most tickets, so if you drive a red car and do something unusually stupid then you'll get a ticket. |

Except in my case, which does not constitiute a trend, but interesting data nonetheless... driving a silver fast car for years with no pull overs, and then switch to a red slow car and get pulled right over on the first day. No difference in driving at all. In fact the trooper stated that he pulled me over because he "thought" my inspection sticker was NG. I argue that they notice the brighter colors, turn their attention, but the dull earth tones get lost in the noise. This assumes both cars are equivalently behaving.
BTW, bright yellow is the FASTEST color to reach the brain from the retina. This is a fact.
